Violet yawned and swung her legs out of bed, sitting up. Sleepily she stood and made her way to the pile of clothes on the bedroom floor, slipping them on. The purple cat yawned again and stumbled to the door. She needed some breakfast to wake herself up. Suddenly she paused and blinked as the door opened and she found herself looking at her reflection. Violet frowned. What was a mirror doing in the doorway? And why did it look 'off' somehow? The reflection spoke and Violet jumped.
"Morning, Sleepy-head."
Violet rubbed her eyes and smiled, realizing she had been staring at her sister, Ruby. The two sisters were twins, the only telling difference between them being their fur and eye colour.
"Morning, Ruby," Violet said. "What time is it?"
Ruby chuckled.
"Nine in the morning," the crimson feline responded. "I was just coming in to wake you."
Violet stepped past her sister, making her way to the kitchen. Ruby fell into step behind her.
"I have some coffee brewing," Ruby said, anticipating her sister's need. "And breakfast is cooked"
Violet nodded in thanks, sitting down at the kitchen table. Without Ruby, Violet knew she would always be running late. She was lucky to have such a close sister who could almost read her mind and keep her on track. The welcome smell of food filled her senses, and Violet smiled at Ruby as she served up breakfast. Yes, she was very lucky indeed...
