They're... so happy! D:Haven't submitted anything in a long time...can't be helped I guess. My teachers this semester are total slave drivers

edit: forgot to say...some have already said it, but I already know it looks very miyazaki. I was almost finished with it when my roommate came up behind me and told me it reminded her of spirited away. Then I realized she was right and accidentally hit myself in the face with a roast beef sandwich. It might have been unconscious or something... but I know for sure that the sandwich was delicious.

I didnt think of Miazaki, I thought of japanese folk law in general, maybe you had that in mind when you were drawing it

I didn't think Miyazaki. I thought of the trolls from the old David the Gnome cartoons. So it was a thrilling sense of nostalgia that I found in this image. ^_^

This is just WOW!!! I agree about it looking myazaki-ish but that's just awesome, and this pic also seems a bit harsher and rawer then the ghibli stuff. I'm absolutly nuts about this pic, love it to death, and as soon as I'm not broke anymore, I'm going to buy a print!!!

Dunno if this was said before... but! Yeah, it looks like Spirited Away, but that wasn't the first thing I thought of. I actually thought of the lowest form of Menos from Bleach, to be honest. which is a cool spin on them, I must say.

It reminds me of the...grr...what is it...some form of demons...I know they're common in mythology but it just slips my mind. They were mentioned once in Samurai Champloo...and it's not the Tengu..but whatever. I like this picture. It's enchantingly creepy. I like it!

there's no such thing as a completely original idea... we are all formed by our experiences. it has miyazaki qualities, in that it is awesome, sort of scary, and beautifully drawn

The layers of critters are wonderful, as is their scattered body language. The masks are interesting, but the whole thing adds up to something rather more than just the masks.

Even though I'm a huge Miyazaki fan, I did not make any connection until I read your comment. Don't worry, just cause something has a black body with a white mask-like face, doesn't make it a miyazaki rip off~! XD These are entirely original and wonderful in my opinion!
As far as critique, I can't really say anything bad!! The composition is great, the colors are great, the characters are great...If I had to point out something though, it would be the anatomy in the arm of the left most figure. It's just not as strong as everything else in the piece!

It's a beautiful composition that flows.
I see your works and get inspired by them. Their hair looks amazing, love the depth you created with them. The "Happy" faces look like masks. I find that interesting, because we all wear masks when we go out and meet people.
I wonder why you want a critique? If you're happy with it, doesn't that make it finished? Everyone can bow down now!
