- InvasionAn Ting has fallen and the Dragon wants revenge...
I'm not really all that happy with this image. Sure it's busy and somewhat complex. I just feel that there's something missing. Besides, I don't know how well a sense of scale comes off in this multi-layered environment. The Invader jumpship being the focus of the image is supposed to be monsterously HUGE! Even the dozens of fighters scattered around don't seem to show much depth and scale to me.
Eh, oh well.
The big Jumpship and the four attached Overlord dropships were built by R. Wahl. The Luzifer, Sparrowhawk, Slayer, and Stuka fighters as well as the Magellan and Starlord jumpships (seen in the background) are mine. Originally rendered in trueSpace 6, I did some post work in Photoshop 5.5.

Very Nice! Scale in space is really hard because of the lack of reference. Putting a couple fighters, or better yet, dropships detaching from the background jumpships might help drive the scale home.

I did this a bit more than eight years ago and my techniques have improved a lot since then. Though if I were to attempt this scene again, I'd have to use a new set of models that were more detailed and better built. Plus there is a few tricks to get scale in space. Anything close to the jumpships would look like specks of light for instance.

i have the same problem when painting the spaceship miniatures. its hard to give enough detail or texture to make them absolutely huge.

I am currently working on a slideshow/video and it will contain many different pictures. Now i have found some images on your site more specific here: that I found very nice and fiting to the content of my video. Now I kindly ask if i may make use of this particular picture in the aforementioned video. It will be published onto youtube. A If my request is denied I will not make use of the picture. I do just wish to use it in the video not print it but it will be in a non commercial way. In credits and description I will make credit to your site and you if you wish.

Even with the flawed execution of my early works, it does seem to stand up to my current standards. There are a lot of things I'd change if I were to redo this image. Like removing that extra "fin" on the dorsal of the jumpship.

It is well put together. i think the scale is thrown off due to the size of the fighters. the ones nearest to the Invader (and attached Overlords) would be near specks. Overall very well done.

Funny seeing it was Draconis March Militia (under orders of Duke Sandoval) that took An Ting in the stories. Most ardent Fed Suns march lord of all that were written.
