Description For

This model is based on a design featured in the MechForce Germany publication Life Support, issue #8

From Sarna.net

www.sarna.net/wiki/Sidewinder

Apparently based on the Timber Wolf (Mad Cat), the Sidewinder OmniMech was developed by Clan Cloud Cobra in preparation for the Clan Invasion of the Inner Sphere. When it turned out that the Cloud Cobras would likely not be among the invader clans they became increasingly desperate and eventually fielded a Sidewinder against Clan Jade Falcon in a trial on Babylon on 16 June 3048 that they lost. The Jade Falcons salvaged the heavily damaged 'Mech and all available information is based on their investigation of the design.

This model took me a bit longer than I thought it would. To get the proper look to match the stats, I had to construct a 10 tube missile launcher based on the Mad Dog/Vulture's torso design. I also had to cobble together a Gauss rifle to finish off the armament. The rest was standard build from parts I'd already assembled on previous models.

Rebuilding thinner LRM10 pods gave this design a sleeker, less bulky look.

Weapons

I like this configuration, but love the traditional config never failed with it.Β

That's a pretty kick ass weapon load out for a heavy, is it a 60 or 65 toner? Also <3 AMS.

It says 75 tons in the link to the Sarna.net page that I added to the description.

That little thing is a 75 ton mech? But it looks so small and cute

As we set up this design we felt that all the new designs with complete different forms and different looking components were not in line with the "omni-idea".
We thoughtΒ that designs ofΒ one era would generally have a similar look.
All the 3050 Omnis share design elements with at least one other Omni.
So for us it was consequential that our Sidewinder would "use" parts of other Omnis.

It's an interesting take on a mech design. Though if you do a reverse image search, you may see it pop up on some discussion boards. One Russian site really lambasted the design (using my image as a reference!).Β

I'm not above the occasional kitbash. I did that a lot when I first started playing the 3050 era stuff. I'd roll up my own mechs and buy miniatures and accessories packs to cobble together my own designs.Β

So Mad Dog/Timber Wolf with Summoner arms?

Pretty much, yeah. Well, *A* Summoner arm at least.

Well, I guess, but the Summoner always did have one arm of a Timber Wolf, so I was more mentioning the configuration of the two arms as a whole.

In this model the Left Arm is the dual-laser mount from a Mad Dog.

I'm liking it. Β Maybe a little more definition on the AC barrel, but otherwise, solid!

That's supposed to be a gauss rifle. I haven't actually made one so this is a kitbash of some parts I already made.
