Description I had an idea for a quickie. So I reworked my Master Sword v2 fav.me/d6gupgh model (once again) to give it the look of a 15th Century, European High Middle Ages styled Norman Arming Sword. I kept the blue bronze metal for the hilt and pommel of my earlier design, and gave it a blue dyed leather and cord wrap around the grip.

-edit-
Some changes to the entire image. Apart from scattering a handfull of rupees to the scene, I also added a fuller to the blade. The sword looked a bit off and I couldn't figure out why until recently. I also reworked the materials a bit and changed the environmental maps for the lighting. A little post work in photoshop to clean it up.

-edit 2-
I completely rebuilt the blade. The reworked version had a fragmented tip and the geometry was fouled up somehow. I also added a double fuller this time which I think looks a lot better.

I think I'm finally done with this scene. It's time to move onto bigger and brighter things!

Created in truesapce 7.6 with textures worked in Photoshop CS5.

Damn....I always wonder why people make such great models just for a single picture T.T, i'd like to use it in game.

Different reasons I suppose. For me it depends on the project at hand. If it takes a lot of effort, I could get a sense of burnout and just want to be done. Other times I have other things lined up that I need to get to, so I finish a job and start work on the next one. Sometimes I lose interest and won't even complete a project, much less get it far enough where I feel like displaying a render. So whatever final image that I post is the most complete that particular project will become. And with that, I move onto the next one. Other times I just have an idea for a model and want to see it come to light without thought as to what scene I'd put it in.

Like the difference between gluing together a plastic model tank, and creating a detailed diorama of a battle scene. It all depends on the mood and skill level that the artist might be in at that moment.

Now here's the thing about this particular sword. It's the 4th version of it. I've rebuilt parts over and over for the past 10 years. And who knows? I might build it again in another few years. Compare this pic to the original I did back in 2007:

And of course the beautiful design that I have today. Each a milestone as I continue to move forward with my talent and technique.

I especially like the gilding on the Rupees.  Thank you for letting me provide feedback during the work.

It was a carry over from my current DA avatar. I'd lost the original models so I remade the rupees and figured make the gilding stand out more.

And of course! Good feedback is invaluable during the creative process!
