Description
Been posting WIPs on my twitter (@grrrowly) the past couple days, here is a compilation of those photos.Been a while since I foamed a head! Little things about my process change every time I do it, but the shaping part is pretty formulaic by now, easy to remember and modify for each distinctive character.
This is pretty much the closest I'll ever get to a tutorial. My method is the result of my materials and workspace, and years of experimenting and trying new things, slowly perfecting my style over time. If you're just starting out, just know there isn't any one way to do things, play around and find a way of working that suits you best.

If you don't mind me asking, what is the dark grey material you use as the base? I'd love to know.

May I ask something?
The way you put foam and duct tape around your dummy, is that the way you create the customerΒ΄s head size?
Cause IΒ΄ve been wondering how to do that, except for a self-made head dummy from the customer himself xD

The head form I use is life-sized, but I make the inside of the mask larger than it needs to be and then pad out the finished head with closed cell foam as needed to fit the customer's dimensions. Not too fond of overly tight heads.

Ah, I see^^
Seems quite sensible to me, the air ventilation works betterif the head is not too tight after all ^^
Thank you for the quick answer! :3

This is likely the most straight-forward approach I've ever found to shaping a fursuit head. No abundance of wire or mesh. Thank you for sharing!
