Description
It’s been a while since I’ve posted something about that Elden ring DLC idea I had, mostly because I was really unsure on how to represent and describe the last part of the project, I’m not sure if I’m going to finish it, but this part was certainly fun to draw, perhaps I should try to create more abstract creatures in the future….Anyway, if you want more context to what I’m saying here’s a link to some additional information: www.deviantart.com/logbot03/ar…
After passing all of Miquella’s remaining memories we finally reach the center of the nightmare, where the player will come face to face with an Avatar of the outer God known as the formless mother, imbued with Miquella’s essence.
If we have followed his quest, Roadrick will join in on the fight automatically, using mostly long range spell attacks, some of which are also used in the first fase of his optional boss fight.
The Avatar moves similarly to the Elden Beast, diving underneath the pool of blood on which the player stands.
However it can still be spotted by looking at unusual movements on the blood.
Predicting where the Avatar will appear next is essential as they will immediately attack with a life draining attack if it isn’t stop quickly enough.
The Avatar can also summon small meteors of blood that increase bleeding, make a quick charge towards the player followed by a devastating grab attack that heals it, and it can create copies of himself.
To find the real Avatar the player needs to look at where Miquella’s prison is positioned since every time the Avatar is on the surface, the trapped Demigod levitates above it.
In it’s second fase, at 50% of its health, the boss adds new attacks their move set: it can spawn tendrils from the ground that can trap players and NPCs, although not the spirit ashes, and it can casts various offensive miracles, by absorbing Miquella’s fully.
However after these powerful attacks, Miquella will burst out of the Avatar, stunning it for a couple of precious seconds.
After being defeated the Avatar drops the inactive rune of Miquella, who now stands free in front of the player, his eternal youth now long gone, leaving behind only a shriveled old man, calling out his sister for help.
Upon interacting with Miquella, the dream ends and we can no longer access it, as we are transported back to the waking world, where now the fog on the island of Saint Trina, has completely vanished.
