Description
Another character for my agents of S.O.B.E.C concept, I really wish I could expand more on this story, but I simply have an hard time on how to properly represent and design some of the characters, they’re still a lot of fun to draw and write though.

Before getting into the lore, Nico as a character is loosely inspired by a comedic sketch about a Sardinian landlord that focuses on make fun in a light hearted way at the Sardinian accent.
In this universe Sardinia does not exist as part of Italy, instead there is the independent State of Ruberia with its own language.
To be honest, finding a proper design for Nico’s henchmen was extremely hard, but then I thought of the traditional Sardinian Mamutones, which is a design I previously used to represent a creature from the Sardinian folklore, and I thought it could look well if I arranged it properly, and to be honest, I’m quite pleased with the result for the uniform.

Now to the story:

Nico is the leader of one of the two big criminal organization that are fighting for control of the crime world: The Rubino syndicate, opposing against the Midas organization.
Nico is been in the criminal underworld for most of his lifetime and built an empire out of nothing, but a turnip farm.
Thanks to his odd enterprise, creative thinking and bad temper he was able to effectively hide his illegal alcohol trafficking disguising the stacks as turnip juice, but this doesn’t mean he couldn’t obtain just enough money in a legitimate way, in fact through an extensive marketing campaign he managed to skyrocket the sells of his turnip based product with the false promises of being “incredibly healthy”.
After a while his company grew so much that in order to expand he bought every piece of farmland on Ruberia, creating a monopoly that eventually gave him complete control over the island as he single-handedly managed the economy of the small country.
He went so far to replace the local police force with his own henchmen, effectively forcing a violent criminal regime.
The other countries however do not seem to bother, either because they see Ruberia as but a dot on the world’s map or because they have been either blackmailed or bought into silence.
Unlike Midas, Nico do not organize grand operations, as he doesn’t need to expand his empire any further, and because of this diplomatic approach to crime, Nico’s men have significantly less advanced equipment compared to Midas, as he has already gained enough contacts to take care of anyone or anything even before it becomes a threat, except of course for S.O.B.E.C and its agents.

Nico is a weird, scrawny little man, that always wears distractingly bright yellow rain boots and that takes great pride in their large puffy mustaches.
He’s incredibly jovial an extroverted, but in his day to day life he resorts to solve any problems by slapping as hard as possible anything that is causing it, clearly a consequence for his untreated anger issues that could potentially end up in a brutal beat down.
In fact, despite his frail body, he can still serve some severe slapping to anyone that dares to contradict his decision, not out of insecurity, but out of pure indignation.

Fortunately Nico do not have any super humans on his side, but any superpower pales in comparison to a vast web of contacts and criminal activities across the world.
