A pair of NPCs for my hypothetical Elden Ring DLC

On the left is The Repented Madman, the player won’t encounter this guy on the boat that take them to the various islands, but on the beaches of Godhunter’s grove, sitting on a crate near a shipwreck.

“ Ah…Ah…master….master….forgive my doubts master…..master forgive me….”
“Ah! Ah! Stay away, stay away, stay away! Who are you?! Why are you here?! Don’t you know what lies ahead?! This is the realm of the Godskin! The realm of the Godslaying black flame! Ah…Ah…the flame….the fire….it burns”
“Ah Tarnished! Ah…Ah…you don’t know what you’re doing….go back….go back….the Elden Ring….The Greater Will….it is all a lie…A LIE!”
“Lies,Lies,Lies!! It’s all just lies…Ah…Ah….master….master…..forgive my doubts….forgive my dullness….my stubbornness…Ah…Ah”

This dialogue might give some hints to who the Madman is, but he’s not just a random NPC that warns you, as he will actively invade the player throughout their journey through Godhunter’s Grove, using frenzied flame and death blight spells. At the end of his quest line he’ll be found half dead at the entrance of the final boss room, once dead he drops a catalyst: Eye of the disillusioned.

“Ah……..master, I’m coming master….. I couldn’t stop them master……. I did what I could….. forgive me master”
“Why do you press forward……Ah…….Ah…..you’re efforts are pointless….. It doesn’t care about you…. It doesn’t care….about…. us”

The other NPC is a character briefly mentioned in Godfrey’s gear’s description and presumably Kenneth Height predecessor: the Lord of the Storm.
We don’t know who he was or why he was against Marika’s Golden Order, but he was certainly powerful enough to take on Godfrey at his prime, so presumably he was an Empirean himself.
The player encounters Dominus Height, Crest Fallen Lord, on the boat leading to the second area

“What’s this? Another fool embarking on some meaningless quest? Oh you’re Tarnish aren’t you, tsk, I could feel the stench of you’re kind from miles away”
“Mmm… wait, you’re the one who slain that Bell Bearing Hunter, you got quite the warrior spirit eh? But a brave heart won’t be enough to survive in this place, there are things among these waves, that are beyond your comprehension”
“Who am I?! Tsk you Tarnish don’t even recall your own history, but what could I expect from such a barbaric race.
Very well, I am Dominus Height, Lord of the Storm and ruler of Limgrave, or at least I was until that… that man thing that you call “Godfrey” came into my domain under the “guidance” of Queen Marika”
“Oh I would have had his head you know, if only my knights didn’t abandoned me, right when their loyalty was of importance, they abandoned me, filthy cowards, some of them even sided with that brute who dared call himself a Lord!”
“That Marika, she should have chosen me! I had the grace, the strength and the spirit needed to be Lord, while that troglodyte couldn’t even use a fork! No wonder she threw him away like a tool when he was no longer of use.”
“Listen now, Tarnish, you don’t have even a fragment of the strength of will required by one to be Lord, just look at the current one, so desperate to obtain a new ring that he sent an “agent of his will” to do the dirty work, a true Elden Lord would have come here himself! So why don’t you do us both a favor and turn back eh?”
“Give up now Tarnish, while you still can”

Unlike Gustáve, Dominus isn’t just a self centered prick looking for the Elden Ring, this guy is an active threat in the story, having his hawks attack you during your journey or even have some of his followers invade you.
It isn’t obvious at first, but the items description of what the invaders drop confirms it.

Another dialogue that shed further light on his intent is when the player meets him again in the safe zone in front of the Black flame temple.

“Well look whose here, the brave Tarnished warrior, all in one piece, I’m quite surprised actually, perhaps I have underestimated you, as I did with the rest of these “improvised crusaders”
“Say you don’t really believe that the boy will become Elden Lord right? I mean look at him, just his sight makes me vomit. But I guess he took some of his grandfather’s trait, mostly his stench, AhAhAh!
“Oh believe me Tarnish, that boy is a lost cause, killing him might even be a mercy, but personally I’m just curious to see how he ends up dead, EhEhEh…”

After defeating the shard of the crucible( following or not Conn quest line) he will greet the player after the fight with a cutscene.

Following Conn quest line:

*Clap* *Clap*
“ My oh my, you two certainly surpassed my expectations, so the strength of the Golden Lineage truly shines through you boy, and you Tarnish, you were surprisingly tenacious.
Very well then, now move aside, and let one truly worthy handle the Elden Ring.”

Not following Conn’s quest line:

*Clap* *Clap*

“ Ah, the lonely Tarnish, standing before the Elden Ring, it appears the scorched maiden was wrong about the child, just as I predicted.
You were a fantastic tool to get rid of the obstacle in my way, now move aside, and let a true Lord handle the Elden Ring”

When the player comes back after dying:

“Back again I see. No matter, I got all the time in the world to properly dispose of you vermin.”

During this fight Dominus attacks using primarily lightning attacks and occasionally one of his unique crucible techniques, like the claws, an energy beam or a projection of himself that do one attack before disappearing.

Once he reaches phase 2:

“You…You disgusting pathetic troglodyte!!
I am the Lord of the Storm! I am the one who should have been the first Elden Lord, and thus I am the one who will reclaim the throne!!!
NOW WITNESS IN FEAR, THE POWER AND THE MIGHT OF A TRUE ELDEN LORD!!!!

Dominus cape of Hawk feathers become a pair of wings sparking with electricity as a storm covers the sky and heavy rain starts to fall on the Arena.

During this phase Dominus attacks are more aggressive and uses all types of Crucible spells, not just his. Now if the player stays still for too long they will be strike by a lightning, much like in Fortissax battle, but the player won’t be still for too long either because of Dominus combos.

Upon defeat:

“No…Damn you all…this can’t be it…. I am Lord…. I…am..a…Lord”
