It appears they're rolling out the Eclipse layout for good today. I'll still keep this around in hopes that it could be updated. It was great for navigating the site and only being on there for productivity reasons after receiving notes etc. Really cut down on idle browsing time.

It will not work properly if you have Eclipse enabled. So it may be that the extension will die soon, when they finally phase out the old UI..

That's because the username detection relies on parsing your message center - a page that changed with Eclipse.
Another thing that doesn't work (not well, anyway) is linking to a specific part of the message center when a notification / line in the popup is clicked.

For some reason, when I get a notification now the little box does not pop up, the sound chimes and the icon on the corner shows a number but that's it.

No, sorry. But just in case you don't know, DeviantART has an official app; it may or may not help you, depending on what kind of notifications you need.

weeell, the official deviantart app stopped supporting android under v5, what makes it useless for too many people ... I wish someone could make a simple desktop version. Chrome is a no for me and there is nothing for Firefox. I would gladly pay for it to be honest :S the official app now screwed me hard without being able to receive the push notifications.
Sorry for the rant xD wanted to let you know about the official app at least~ here you have the official info:Β
Dropping App Support For Android v4.4 And LowerDeviantArtβs Android app is now dropping support for devices running Android v4.4 or lower.Β This does not apply to the mobile version of the website accessed through your mobile browser.
Old versions of Android have security vulnerabilities that make it difficult for us to continue supporting. Disabling support for old versions of Android ensures the secure transfer of data from your device to DeviantArtβs servers.
DeviantArt is compliant with the Payment Card Industry security standards, and new policies require sites and applications to drop support for older, less secure encryption methods. Itβs likely that many other apps and services will be dropping support for older versions of Android in the coming months as well. Β Google itself has already dropped support for these devices because of security vulnerabilities.
FOR AFFECTED USERS

To be fair, if you are still running Android under v5, it's about as secure as running WinXP. It's a bigger problem than a DeviantART app.
There is a beta of my extension for Firefox, though I didn't test for a while if it still runs. SeeΒ kashev.me/da-notifier/

if pop up notifications break on the app the only way to make them work again is to reinstall the app :'^)

What I really need is an easy way to find and clear spam. I'd like to be able to pull up all comments made by a specific individual on my art, and deal with them all at once. Right now hateful people have too much power to harass because they can spam from troll accounts faster then we can block, and find the spam posts.

While I appreciate the sentiment, this is way outside the scope of what my little extension can, and aspires to, provide.
It's expressly a notifier: a read-only view into the latest messages. It does not integrate with the Notification Center any further, partly because the API to do so was, and remains, undocumented.
What I do wish to have, at some point, is a user-supplied ruleset that would allow to not notify about certain messages. However, it would not solve the problem you describe.

Not being notified of certain messages could actually make things worse in that their could be vile obnoxious comments, and I wouldn't know about them until I happened to run across them, or a follower informed me. Now an ap that can automatically block someone the moment they've posted the exact same thing more then say three times could be a very valuable tool in stopping spammers.Β

There is no API (public or known undocumented) to do that. Possibly can still be done, but I do not intend to add such functionality.

Maybe, but no earlier than August . Firefox is slowly getting ready to adopt an extension model similar to Chrome - I will try porting then.

The fix is already out:Β
0.7.5.2: Fixing the dreadful ERRDear me, you guys are quick to react when something breaks. And you are numerous as well.
But this time, I noticed the problem myself, and the fix was ready very fast but I was waiting until Google's AI heuristics approved my update, which took much longer than I'd like and is completely outside my control.
The problem is due to DeviantART kicking Support messages out of Notification Center. My old requests that included them were considered malformed as a result.
The fix is out right now, but your Chrome might be slow to pick it up (a couple of hours at worst). To force it to update, you can use this guide.
Regards,
Alexander.
