This sounds so freakin practical *o*
The only con is that its only for chrome :c
I will install chrome separately just to have notifications, but man...if it was for firefox, it would be one of the best things ever

I just can't get used to chrome, I did tried for several months but I just ended up returning to old good firefox, maybe new users can get used to it quickly but for veteran firefox users, who used it for 5-6 years, its something kinda painful to just throw away.

but yeah I will try it now!

Sorry for the late response! For Firefox, I suggest that you take a look at #deviantAnywhere , the add-on I originally used when I was a Firefox user and that inspired the Notifier

I'm glad you like it
I have plans for more fine-tuned notifications in the future to suit individual needs.

To my understanding you can disable the chime that comes with each notification right?
How do you get to all of that, I can't really seem to figure it out.

Sorry for my bad english.

I'm using this for awhile about 4 months. But now,it's starting to get slow, glitch and get 20+ comments/replies.When I click 20+ comments/replies,there's actually now new comments. And the slowness makes my PC hang.I already re-download it but it's still the same.

Well, that's all I have to say.

Okay, I caught the problem myself and will look into it.

In my defence, it's on the dA side, but I have to account for such failure. Thanks for reporting it, a llama as promised!

logeg In reply to MMDLucyExtend [2012-11-23 16:21:07 +0000 UTC]

Hmmmm. Strange.

Could you please do the following, if you run into this problem again:
1) Open up extensions menu: right-click on the extension button, "Manage extensions".
2) Check "Developer mode" in the top-left of the page.
3) A link "background.html" should appear next to my extension. Click it.
4) A "Developer Tools" window should appear. Click on "Console" "tab".

If there are any errors, they will appear there.
You can also try resetting all options/saved values by running the following command:

localStorage.clear();

By the way, I understand French (though I cannot write in it well), so you can reply me in French if you wish. Bonne chance!

I would love to download this, however for some reason I can't seem to get extensions from the chrome store website. Like when I click on an extension, where the "add to chrome" should be, there is just nothing. Any like hints or tips how to fix this? I really would like this, and sorry to bother you....

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

logeg In reply to Subsquentual [2012-11-01 23:09:44 +0000 UTC]

No idea, sorry. Check that your version of Chrome is current (should be 22 or better). What is your OS?

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Subsquentual In reply to logeg [2012-11-01 23:14:16 +0000 UTC]

I don't know what version, nor how to check it, and what's an Os? sorry to be a bother

logeg In reply to Subsquentual [2012-11-02 07:00:15 +0000 UTC]

Then I guess you have Windows. Which version of it?
As to Chrome, open up its menu, and click on "About Google Chrome".

Windows XP, and the version is 11.0.696.71, I guess that's why...I'm thinking of switching Internet browsers, but thanks for replying

logeg In reply to Subsquentual [2012-11-04 22:04:13 +0000 UTC]

The current version of Chrome is 22. Maybe Chrome dropped support for Win XP, though I doubt it happened that long ago. Anyway, your chrome is grossly outdated, so it won't work, sorry.

Subsquentual In reply to logeg [2012-11-04 22:57:08 +0000 UTC]

Ah, well that's ok, I switched to a different browser, I like it a lot better than Chrome, it might have some downsides, but I don't mind it. Anyway, thanks for helping and sorry to bother you

You're welcome, and should really consider upgrading to Win7 (while you still can get it, MS can retire it at their leisure now that Win8 is out)

Well, there's #deviantAnywhere which is "something like" this.
It was the initial inspiration for my version.

SylkRode In reply to ??? [2012-07-28 17:27:35 +0000 UTC]

Could you add an option to set whether or not clicking the toolbar icon opens a new tab or opens the message center in the current tab?
Also, I used to be !ReyvinVinnex , so I don't feel it's necessary to list both my user names separately in the credits.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

logeg In reply to SylkRode [2012-07-31 16:58:57 +0000 UTC]

It's an interesting point. I will need to discuss it further (with you, and maybe the group), as there are finer points to that, but it is not a high-priority improvement, mostly due to the fact that popup interface is meant to replace (but will not force the switch) the direct click on the button.

I will amend the credits when 0.6.3 will be out.

Firefox Version?
I'm not getting that crappy google chrome to use this, google chrome sucks.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

logeg In reply to Fluttershy1012 [2012-07-20 06:55:29 +0000 UTC]

1) There is #deviantAnywhere for Firefox. This extension is kind of a port of that to Chrome, though our design philosophies diverged and =PostaL2600 has since developed a port of his own.
2) I am not interested in developing a Firefox version. You are entitled to your opinion, I am entitled to mine that Chrome is superior.
3) If you're up to constructive discussion, why do you consider Chrome crappy?

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Fluttershy1012 In reply to logeg [2012-07-20 14:05:34 +0000 UTC]

1) Thanks.
2) if Chrome is superior, then howcome it would constantly freeze, and close on me?
3) i consider chrome crappy because it always freezes, and closes on me.

I would suspect underlying troubles with your computer, and not Chrome itself.
But, whatever works best for you.

When I switched to Chrome, there was nothing like the Notifier for it, and I missed it much.. So I just wrote this. It's very pleasant to think this previously personal project became useful, with ~6k active installs.

I love this extension! I've always wondered why dA didn't have e-mail notifications for new messages or notes, which I thought would be a handy feature. But this extension is even better that would be e-mail notifications.
Excellent tool. Excellent.
