Description I'm still looking for that bowl of milk...

Well... I fixed the seam on the right arm as best I could. I must admit, my understanding of the Aiko texture maps is limited. I was only able to reduce the appearrance. I also fixed the tail location and one of the problems with the hair.

For anyone that would like to take a crack at fixing the seems on the skin texture, the leopardess texture was obtained from this link: [link]

The "sheen" and "fuzzy" feel of the fur texture was something I added in Povray.

That makes me wonder if the Zeborah texture from the same source has the same problems. I just made the shift to Gimp2 from PSP8 because my copy of PSP8 is broken and I can't find my reinstall disk. I wouldn't have the faintest idea how to work with those textures really anyhow. But except for the arm (and perhaps the inside of the leg?) it looks really good.

I use Poser, Poseray, and Povray along with a few other things. The following link might help explain more.

You know, I have paint-out-seams capabilities if you still would like somebody to do that for you

I have since learned more about the seams. I could have fixed this in the texture or in post work, but I never got around to doing it. I still wish the seams were "blended" instead of being hard edged, but oh well. Thanks for the offer though!

Ok. Well if you ever need seamlessness directly on a 3D model, it's a heck of a lot less work when you have the software, so feel free to ask if that ever be the case.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Lokai2000 In reply to BradyDalton [2007-02-12 01:26:28 +0000 UTC]

I am curious what software you use though?
Do you use a 3D paint program of any type?

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

BradyDalton In reply to Lokai2000 [2007-02-12 03:34:29 +0000 UTC]

I use Autodesk 3dsMax8. I actually don't have 3D paint software, but I have a method I invented using Max's UV and render capabilities enabling me to paint over seams using regular paint software and layer it back onto the model's layout.

Hey, this is the cuttest foxy girl I have seen from Aiko!
Aiko's texture space uses different scales in some parts of the body, and the place DAZ put the seams make it sorta inconvenient for this kind of pic.
I personally fixed some of the UV probs in Maya, just to find out the OBJ exported destroys all of Aiko's morphs, and there is no way I know of to get around this.
The amazing level of detail in your pics simply put the cheapskate Poser renders to shame.
As usual, your lighting setup is terrific.

Lokai2000 In reply to ken1171 [2005-12-30 00:14:23 +0000 UTC]

I still have bad memories of trying to get the seams to dissappear on this piece. I have had serious issues with poser's firefly render engine (memory issues, memory issues, memory issues, and, oh yeah, memory issues!.) I switched over to Povray a while back and have never looked back.
Besides, I can render fog, use caustics, use radiosity, and do many, many, other special effects in povray that firefly just can't do.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

ken1171 In reply to Lokai2000 [2005-12-30 00:30:52 +0000 UTC]

I know exactly what you mean. I have been (occasionally) rendering Poser scenes in Vue, since it allows most of what you mentioned about rendering effects and the lighting is lightyears ahead in quality. On each newer version of Poser, FireFly's PolySmoother effect has become even more accentuated, sometimes causing total distortion of the 3D models instead of smoothing them. Unfortunately, e-on's Vue5 is even buggier than Poser itself...

Lokai2000 In reply to ken1171 [2005-12-30 00:39:36 +0000 UTC]

Oh GOD! I completely forgot about firefly's smoother! I have had it totally destroy some 3D objects.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

ken1171 In reply to Lokai2000 [2005-12-30 00:52:14 +0000 UTC]

Yes, FireFly smoother "reshapes" your objects before rendering. You never know what they will look like in the end...
