Description *phew*

This version of the beast is finally complete. My appologies for the large download size, but the documentation for this program is getting larger as new features are added.

PIBL stands for Povray Image Based Lighting. The tool generates light sets similar to HDRI lighting for the Povray render engine using .bmp image files. This tool has become the single source of the lighting used in my renders.

Version 0.5.05 has a lot of new features. To many to list here. The best ones are improved lighting models and the ability to add a uv_mapped sky sphere created by the tool.

I should have faved this sooner since I use this on a semi regular basis.

Any chance that you might one day update or add to this?

Well... yes. The code I have been using is a far newer version. In fact, it has migrated down a completely new path. The program is now called IBX. I have never updated the program because there didn't seem to be any interest in it. Parrotdolphin is the only other person I know of that has ever used it on a regular basis.

Unfortunately, I don't have a tutorial for IBX. The use of it is very similar to PIBL except that area lights are used to get smooth shadow edges. The tool does a much better job of initially aligning lights in the scene. There is only one include file that contains all the light quality sets and parameters. There are only 4 quality settings. You can specify a prefix and use multiple include files in a scene. The lights run faster for the same level of performance in PIBL. There are some special light generation modes...... More items I can't remember.... If you are really interested, I can post something to the scraps again. IBX is not quite ready for prime time. I am still playing around with its algorithms.

Some of my IBX Images....

Well, if it's possible, I'd love to be able to try it out and give you some feedback. I tend to be a frequent tester of things (games, preview images, 3d models, books, and etc.) and I may be able to work something out with IBX, so long as it has some documentation on what the program does or switches it uses at runtime.
