Description Hopefully you guys can follow this. This is the easiest way I've found to return any straight ponytail wig to its frizz free glory.

Any Miku or Linalee cosplayer knows how bad these wigs can get the moment you put it on, let alone halfway into a con. With the above methods though my wigs look brand new every-time I use them.

Added benefits is the product left in the wigs from this process makes them slightly less likely to frizz.

EDIT: The little pink bottle of wig spray is no longer available at this time, you can make your own with liquid fabric softener and water though!

This method is PERFECT for fluffy ends, do the hair-dryer bit perfect and it will return it to new!

Wait, how do you keep it from moving while "ironing" it on the floor?

Is this only for heat resistant wigs? I fear the hairdryer will melt my non-heat resistant wig fibers

LolaInProgress In reply to DizDear [2011-07-12 06:10:57 +0000 UTC]

This has worked on all wigs ive ever tried it on! the trick is to run the dryer long the fibre like a straightener, long smooth swift moves, if in doubt though, check it on a tiny piece first

Is there any way to easily de-frizz and de-tangle wavy/curly mega-long wigs??? ^_^

LolaInProgress In reply to PomegranateWolf13 [2011-07-11 02:10:39 +0000 UTC]

Brushing out those wig with a spray in them WILL help but to de frizz you have to straighten and recurl im afraid!

FFFFF Homg this is amazing!!!! X33

But does it have to be silicone based? D=

LolaInProgress In reply to Hippie30199 [2011-07-11 02:11:47 +0000 UTC]

Basically just make sure its slippery, have a look at the wig spray in the description, its brilliant and smells abit like fabric softener (Ive also been told fabric softener works when diluted )

this is so helpful. my god, you have no idea
my Miku wig extends down to my knees and is already frizzy bad from only 3 times of wearing it for small photo sessions. I go to convention in 3 days and I'm not sure if I can get it cleaned up in time. Is there any quick and temporary way to make my wig look presentable for this weekend?
I've tried brushing it and layering on hair spray to keep it in place but it wears off too easily

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

LolaInProgress In reply to VisualKei666 [2011-07-06 03:56:16 +0000 UTC]

If you have the time you can brush the wig out without spray, it will be alot harder but its doable, , to make it easier, brush out the ends then hairdryer them flat, then move up the wig, ,its because its fuzzy that it will get caught alot, if you make the fibres flat again they will take longer to frizz

Hope that makes sense lol

(as for hairspray it doesn't do much for stopping the frizz, in the long run you wanna make it a slippery as possible, chuck some anti static spray in as well )

VisualKei666 In reply to LolaInProgress [2011-07-07 02:04:03 +0000 UTC]

Yea. it makes sense
I'm going to try it tomorrow- day before the convention, and see what I can do
I just have to get it presentable again like when I first got it

Thank you so much!

Thank you so much QAQ We could've used this when our Miku had so much tangles haha~ I wondered that in case there are long wigs that aren't heat resistant, would the hairdryer melt the fibers? Especially in such close proximity.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

LolaInProgress In reply to Fay-D-Fluorite [2011-07-05 22:05:35 +0000 UTC]

Nope, used this on all types of wigs, because you run the hairdryer only the strand in one quick movement its not damaging

Shackles-and-scythes In reply to ??? [2011-07-05 20:05:14 +0000 UTC]

i thought blow drying the fibers in high heat will melt them and distort them.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

LolaInProgress In reply to Shackles-and-scythes [2011-07-05 22:04:42 +0000 UTC]

If you blow the hot hair DOWN the strand on the floor all it will do is melt them back into place

Just gotta be controlled about it!

smallrinilady [2011-07-05 18:24:50 +0000 UTC]

does the spray dry or leave a greasy residue?
and where does one find this stuff?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

LolaInProgress In reply to smallrinilady [2011-07-05 22:07:12 +0000 UTC]

Ive now added a link to the wig spray It leaves no residue which is nice (once its dry) and the silicone spray also just drys, it becomes more slippery because the strands are coated in slippery stuff but that helps long term
