The Shadow....I miss drawing him, and I'm so happy with how this came out!Contest Entry for *jameson9101322 's Keyblade contest . I figured I'd give it a shot, just for the heck of it. Spent about 2 hours on this from sketch to color tonight.
The Guillotine-type blade and sabre-like bellguard reminded me of the story of the Scarlet Pimpernel, who predates The Shadow. In my mind, the two characters are so remarkably similar, I felt that a combination of the two heroes would make an appropriate Keyblade. (Since I was honestly at a loss as to what the Shadow's keyblade should look like in the first place.) The little keychain thingie at the bottom is the Shadow's Autogyro .

Oh geez, Shadow fanart! I love him! XD My boyfriend is a huge fan of the cheesy movie, and my grandpa had a lot of the old radio shows on tape when I was a kid.

I saw a black-and-white of the Scarlet Pimpernel a while ago and I totally fell in love with the characters. I'm hoping to read the novels soon too.

The Shadow is a radio character from the 1920s that became a literary character at the demand of the listeners (with over 300 books!), and later, had movies and comic books made starring him as well. This specific version was based off the novelized incarnation created by Walter B. Gibson.
If you've ever heard the catch phrase "Only the Shadow Knows" or a chilling, evil laughter (even though he's a good guy), that would be a reference to him.
