Work in progresss.Begun as a little tribute piece some 4 years ago (roughly about 28 dog years!) as a little nod to some of my childhood favourite artists - Frazetta, Boris, Buschema, Jusko to name a few. Sat incomplete on one of my hard drives all this time, and lately I've been sneaking in time to work on it some more. Its still incomplete, but I thought I'd post this character and a snippet from the background. Had a bunny rabbit tattoo on his shoulder, but decided against it for the moment.

I think it is impossible to overstate the influence of the artists you've listed. I've met people in just about every genre and from every background all over the world who cite them as sources of inspiration. It's no different for me. It's become a nightly ritual for me to take out and peruse a collection by Boris or Frazetta and attempt to comprehend the steps I have to take to parallel that kind of genius. I know I made my first compliment of your work come in fast and strong but now I feel compelled to hit you with the second one. I really think you are at this level Dave. Yes, you've got style that's on a tangent but I see the same capacity. Wise people will always tell you there can be only one Frazetta, one only Michelangelo, and this is very true. As you go on you have to own your influences and be true to what is you in your art. There is every evidence that this has happened with you. I'm sure you will continue to grow as an artist and you see yourself in this ongoing exploration of what's now and what's next but I think you should be aware that this quality can be seen in your work. I believe that you should be proud of that. :] This is an absolutely beautiful homage and has all the inherent humor and optimism that flows through you. It really brought a smile to my face. Might even stand a chance of soliciting a wry grin and then a hearty fit of laughter from the grim Cimmerian himself!

Yeah, those artists are giants in the field and they still blow me away when I look at their art today. Unbelievably flattered by your comparisons and what you see in my art - not sure I'd go that far myself

One of my favourite has to be the 1991 graphic Novel "Conan the Rogue", not necessary the story itself, but because its 60 + pages of one of those rare times Buscema inked himself. Thanks for the fave and nice words btw good sir!
