Description
RIP Uderzo. Time to put down the menhir, tie up Cacofonix and raise a roasted boar to celebrate the artistic genius behind Asterix and Obelix. Uderszo's comics were a huge part of my childhood and growing up and his amazing art still influences me today.Related content

There is a new artist and writer continuing the series, but they are remaining faithful to the original stuff, so while it isn't Uderzo, its still safe to say its being handled with respect.

The artist may be dead, but his legacy lives on β as long as those in the comic industry don't kill it (literally or figuratively), that is.

Absolutely!
Some of the best comics the USA somehow missed.

It always puzzled me how the Asterix and Obelix comics never took off in the US.

Yeah, it's bizarre. Same thing with TinTin. If I didn't have a friend whose father regularly travelled overseas I would have missed them, and that would have been sad because Asterix & Obelix were fantastix!

I admit that I was not able to read many of Asterix comics, my exposure mostly came in animations and films, but I loved the series regardless. RIP Mr. Uderzo.Β

This man played a major part in my childhood. I still have all my "Asterix and Obelix" books. He'll be sadly missed.

When I was doing adult matriculation at the local technical college, I lent that comic to my economics teacher. I think she enjoyed it.

Oh no I didn't knew he had passed away so recently....That's so sad. His comics were one of my favorite things when growing up and they still are. He did amazing work and I owe him a lot for the times he managed to make me feel better with his art and his comics. Asterix & Obelix are still some of my favorite characters and most fun comics to read and they will always be. May he rest in peace <3

Asterix and Obelix was my favourite during my chilhood.
Their jokes and battles made me laugh.
In this morning, I read that Uderzo is deceased. What's a shock.
RIP

Now Asterix & Obelix are orphans!Β Β
