Description
Ok... now I figured it was time to start fleshing out the door. What do I mean by that? Well... it means that this model wasn't built to be torn apart and the interior panel of the door was never meant to be seen, so I had to cut a peice off the inside of the interior section where it looks like the door would be and then build what looks like what the inside of the door would look like if it were opened. To accomplish this, I figured I would sculpt them using the Sculpey clay I have been having fun with for the figures. The problem with that is that it needs to be baked to harden, and the plastic door would never survive the heat of the oven. So I pushed the door into a blob of modeling clay and poured some plaster into it to create a template.
Using the plaster template I began fleshing out and carving the door interior. When it was done, I pulled the plastic off the plaster and then baked the clay on the plaster to harden it. While it was baking I cut a section off the one piece window peice. I traced the interior of the body while it was held in place and cut it apart using my trusty Dremel tool. Why? Well... the top of the window section is actually accurate to the interior panel at the top part of the door. So I figured I would use what I had intead of actually building a complete new piece from scratch.
When the clay peices were hard I put all the pieces together and they fit perfectly. When it's all glued into place and painted you would never know it was clay.
