Description This isn't a particularly great picture but it is one of outstanding odds! I live in Iowa so the Northern lights aren't usually even visible but this year they were so bright! I couldn't believe it! I didn't have time to set the right settings on my camera so I just let it do the work and this is what I got! I like it nonethelesss...

Wow!!! I've never had the fortune to see the Northern Lights, much less here in Iowa. When did this happen?

Winter of '06. It was pretty awesome and that is about a 10 second exposure... I was just in the kitchen and I looked out my window and just about killed myself rushing to get my camara two stories up!

Haha! The very best photos have been life-threatening in their production.

HA! ...no... I don't remember... OH! I set it on auto and put it on the grill. I love the auto button. See... I never took a photography class so I have no idea what all of the jargon meens. I just enjoy taking pictures.

We get them here a little where I am but I don't think we've seen them this bright. How I wish we could see them like the pictures I've seen. This is a lovely capture, you did very well.

Thank you. I just set my camara on the grill on the back deck and pushed the button. Mother Nature did the rest.
We rarely get them like this... ipso facto this might have been a first! I do hope you get to see them like this one day. It was truly inspiring.

Oh please don't be envious. Keep your eyes open on winter nights and you may see some yourself.

The problem is winter tends to be very cloudy here. I've seen it twice. Once it was very faint and the other time it was brighter but it didn't have much color

I see. There can be many complications. I guess I was just lucky, huh?

Photographs of the Aurora Borealis belong in sky. Because it isn't a picture of something 72 miles above the earth.
