Software used: Apophysis Yes, no, upload, not to upload? I went through several cycles of these before I decided that I'll upload this piece (it made a brief appearance in my tutorial, too). Alas, it's my style so if I feel like it, I'll bloody well make 10 clones of one picture and upload them!
I keep returning to it because I love the space/underwater feel. I may have a smidge of thalassophobia (really, who goes snorkeling and backs out halway around a reef with panic attack lol), but at the same time I have very vivid dreams about fantastic underwater scenes with colorful plants and animals.
Muffled sound under water, it makes me panicky yet it's so soothing as well. Anyone else having these contradictory experiences?

Eli, I can see why you gravitate toward this style. Each of us brings our own experience, but to me, it is powerful. As you alluded, it is an enigma that can be interpreted many ways depending on our experiences. In color, it is calming cool blue, but the electric edges can trigger feelings of unrest. There is warmth as well to counter balance the cool. As a whole, like much of our universe, it may seem at once unstructured and chaotic, and perfect at the same time. The one perfect sphere in the lower center provides a subtle contrast with the rest of the forms. Does it have significance? Perhaps for the viewer to decide. We cannot help but see this image in motion in our mind. Perhaps we see a slow seething of plasma waves, or perhaps the crackle of destruction/creation (change). This will be seen through the filter of our current demeanor. Given a cosmological bent, I personally imagine this as a cradle of creation. But I look again and see some microcosm. The image is powerful because of these contradictions, resulting in a single catalyst to elicit a full spectrum of emotion and imagination in the viewer. Whatever that magic formula is - do not lose it. Excuse my meandering thoughts... Sincerely, Jerry
