Description
Of course, I couldn't do a card for Sonic without doing one for Shadow. The two are very similar, but they have their notable differences. Shadow's red-ness doesn't show nearly as strongly as Sonic's; Shadow is arrogant and cocky, yes, but he's not nearly as impulsive as Sonic. Shadow is black and white in equal measure; he's a bit selfish and doesn't really get involved in squabbles unless they affect him personally, but he does have that promise to Maria that he's very determined to uphold. You'll notice that Shadow and Sonic both have haste and vigilance, and while Shadow lacks double strike, he does have first strike. (They're both really fast, after all. Shadow's just a touch less so than Sonic.) To make up for this, Shadow is more powerful than Sonic, and he can boost his power more easily. Shadow doesn't like to taunt foes like Sonic does, so he lacks provoke, and the fact that he relies more on Chaos Control than his body's... natural locomotion (I'm referring to running, folks!!!) means that he doesn't maneuver around foes as easily (which means that he lacks flanking.) On the other hand, Shadow tends to be very... ruthless against those who get in his way, so he gets trample. He also gets rampage because his sheer power lets him mow down entire armies with ease.
Shadow's activated abilities are meant to emulate his incarnations from Shadow the Hedgehog and Sonic 2006.
The first activated ability represents his Chaos Boost, in which he ramps up his power through Chaos Control.
The second ability is Chaos Hold, in which Shadow uses Chaos Control to immobilize an opponent (in a manner not unlike the Hold Person spell from Dungeons and Dragons or what he did to Silver after their fight in Sonic 2006. I made up the ability, yes, but in retrospect, I was really only giving it a specific name.) I originally didn't have it in there, but then I realized that due to Shadow's vigilance keyword, there was no way to tap him aside from the use of his final ability (barring the use of other spells and abilities, such as Deluge ). This would make his third ability practically unusable, so I couldn't have that. At the same time, tapping Shadow and getting nothing else out of it seemed kind of silly, but I didn't want the effect to be very strong (it doesn't cost anything besides tapping Shadow). Tapping another creature fit quite well. (Of course, if Shadow were to actually be used in a Magic game, I can so see him being paired with Royal Assassin in order to abuse this. Mwahaha.)
The third ability is straight-up Chaos Control, in which Shadow warps around (phasing) and tends to swoop in from all sorts of crazy angles, usually from midair (flying). Β Chaos Snap is also represented here. I made Chaos Control require white mana because it was powered by the Hero meter in Shadow the Hedgehog.
The fourth ability is Chaos Spear. Shadow launches concentrated Chaos energy at a single foe, which can heavily injure it. It may look underpowered compared to Sonic's Homing Attack, until you realize that the damage is independent of Shadow's power - weakening Shadow won't weaken it at all - and that it's able to target players. This means that it can also be used to get rid of enemy planeswalkers. Suddenly, Nicol Bolas doesn't seem quite so threatening anymore.
The final ability, of course, is Chaos Blast. Shadow completely and utterly devastates everything around him with an explosion of Chaos energy, which is centered on Shadow himself but leaves him completely unharmed. Unfortunately, that "devastates everything around him" bit includes not only his enemies, but also the guys who are supposed to be on his side. (I told you Shadow was a little selfish!!!) I was going to also include Chaos Bang (a variant of Chaos Blast I made up which is slightly weaker but can be rerouted to avoid injuring allies), but I didn't have enough space for it. I made Chaos Blast use black mana because it was powered by the Dark meter in Shadow the Hedgehog.
I wanted to include a few of the Chaos Control variants that I came up with (such as Chaos Shield, Chaos Wall, Chaos Mask, Chaos Bind, Chaos Barrier... I could go on and on...) but I didn't have space. So, I decided to reserve the more defensive Chaos Control variants for Marcus Belnades and let Shadow get the offensive stuff.
The artwork on this card is "Time to finish this " by . Again, I've credited her on the card itself. If you want to see it at full size, check out her gallery!!! Shadow, of course, is the property of SEGA. The rest of the card was designed by myself.

What is everyone's fascination with Sonic? I honestly don't get this at all. Not gonna lie this is a good card but I don't get the Sonic fascination.

Sorry, the program I've got isn't very conducive to planeswalker cards.

It's also not very friendly to the level-up mechanic, which is a shame, because I've got some nifty ideas for that...

I did recently find a Magic card maker that can make planeswalkers. So maybe I'll make a Shadow planeswalker after all.
