Edit: Yes I know he was always called Dr. Eggman in Japan and Dr. Robotnik was used for Western audiences until the early 2000's. Please stop reminding me about it.But at least hes still called Dr. Robotnik in Archie Sonic Comics & the DS game Sonic Chronicles: The Dark Brotherhood.
I decided to rewrite this description because a lot of people pointed out hes always called Eggman, they dont mind not calling him Robotnik or they dont care if hes called Robotnik or Eggman. This was just a simple stamp i made 3 years ago for those who grew up in the 90's and knew Sonic's nemesis's name as Dr.Robotnik till the 2000s when he was known as Dr.Eggman worldwide.
Its just a stamp for those who like his old name. It sounded more sinister and threatening as well as describing his profession (Making Robots). You dont have to like this stamp if you dont want to. I already know hes always called Eggman in Japan and i see it as some sort of Nickname to him. I like the name Robotnik and its the name I grew up with.
I'm sorry if i offended anyone who likes his current name Dr.Eggman. But if you like Dr.Robotnik as well feel free to fave this stamp.

I say both. I dunno why. I seem to use the name Eggman while referring to him in the games and in Sonic X, and call him Robotnik in the DiC cartoons and Archie comics.

I for one, who grew up in the 90's, PREFER the story of Mobius, Knothole, and Dr. Robotnik ("Julian" if you go into some of the later episodes, where Sonic & Sally go back to the Palace Fountain of 3224, using the Time Stones, back to before he first became Robotnik, and when it was still called Mobotropolis, and NOT Robotropolis.) to any of this Dr. Eggman nonsense
I don't particularly care for any of this he was always Eggman...Not in my book...it just makes no sense.
Reading some of the comments already on here, I like the fact of saying it was 2 separate universes...it certainly would keep things more separated instead of trying to combine 2 sheerly conflicting story plots.

Yeah, The Sonic expanded universe is like one whole load of multiple sonic universe's, like the ones from the comics, cartoons & games. I'm glad you like the name Robotnik over Eggman.

This is how I see it: His real name is Dr. Julian Ivo Robotnik. His villainous nickname is Dr. Eggman. In some continuations, he sticks with his real name *AoSTH, SatAM, Underground, early comics*, in others *games, Sonic X* he begins calling himself Eggman even though it was originally an insult from Sonic. Anyway nice stamp

Ivo "Eggman" Robotnik is both, lol.
There are four robotniks that I know of:
Julian Robotnik (SatAM, "Uncle Julian" as Snivley said on occasion. )
Gerald Robotnik: (Creator of Shadow and his roughly 1 billion clones, Sonic Heroes, Shadow the hedgehog PS2)
Ivo Robotnik: The 'Official Eggman.'
Maria Robotnik: (Mariaaaaaa! Lol! 
The two that people mix up are "Uncle Julian" Robotnik
and Ivo Robotnik. Oh well, at least most people know the difference.

I believe, if my memory doesn't fail me too much, that he only referred to himself as Dr. Ivo Robotnik, in the Weekday cartoons (the ones with Scratch and Grounder) (The ones YouTube Pooped to the breaking point)
And only was known as Dr. Robotnik during the Saturday Morning ones, the ones with Knothole, Robotrobolis, etc....not finding out he is known as Julian, until AFTER, Sonic and Sally us the Time Stones and go back to "Mobotropolis" in the year 3224

Koopa is his last name, Bowser is his first name, King Bowser Koopa.

So that's why it's called the 'Eggman Empire'. In all media but the most retro, his real surname is Robotnik, but he is more often addressed/known as Eggman and will address himself as such. I don't understand why it can't be both, but whatever.

Dr Robotnik is a cool and evil souding name, 'Dr Eggman' isn't!
What I like about it is that due to fact that it means (in Cheks) Serf of Slave, which although may seem a little odd (condiering his ambitions) I see it as a good incator that he is a slave to his own greed for power.
Likewise he should be protayed at all times as an evil, sadistic villain and NEVER as a comady villain.
It would help if SEGA could take a look at the war craimes commited by the Nazi's in WW2 if they are ever stumped for ideas, as just so long as it is made to LOOK 'family freandly' (ie not to much blood and guts) they could have him go round sendimg his Badniks to massacare whole cities and have death camps where Mobions are faced with being KILLED.
That is how evil I saw him as a kid, a sadist who'd (if he were real) make Hitler and Pol Plot look like mere small time muggers!!!!!
Going by todays games if it ever turned out that he were real and he attacked us in a few decades time, we'd all be fucked as the kids who'd have grown up on his later day imposter would think he'd be a wimp who could be defeeted by playing some kind of cartoonsih gag on him!!!!

If you want an evil, sadistic villain, maybe you should try a different franchise? This is a series about a cartoon anthropomorphic hedgehog, not Nazi Germany. Besides, that idea has been done to death in the gaming industry anyway.

Yes I know Sonic is really (at the end of the day) a series of kids games, but why can't the depict the 'blood and guts' (ie all the killing) in the style of the old 'GI Joe: A Real American Hero' cartoons of the 1980s?
They had all kinds of events where people would get shot or blown up (off stage) but never (or if this wasn't the case it was very rare) any blood!
You could even have a major character killed off but just so long as it looked 'fake' (as in no 'blood or severed limbs just someone lying on the ground as though they were playing dead')
I wasn't calling for 'realistic' evil stuff just have Robotnik have his Badniks or SWATBOTS set their ray guns (and I stress on the 'ray' part) on 'kill' and NOT go round acting the fool.
It's unlikely SEGA will take heed of those comments (if they are reading this) but then, that's where fanfic comes in...

Well, that's the idea of U.S.A. But the game was made for children, a sadistic genocide isn't the right thing :/ Otherwise, you're referring to the dark plot of Sonic SatAM, when the game is more colorful and happy.
That makes two versions;
The dictator Robotnyk & the evil scientist Eggman. I like more the second one, but the first is still badass.

Yeah, I do prefer Robotnik as an evil tyrant Who creates robots and enslaves cute woodland animals. And when watching the Terminator movies I just think that its really Robotnik who's behind Skynet.

Yeah, it pretty weird for him to do that. Although in Sonic Chronicles Doctor Eggman pretended to help Sonic so that he can backstab him and take over the world. And hes back to trying to Kill Sonic in Sonic 4 & Sonic Colours.

Who in there right minds thinks Eggman sounds scary ( Maybe some people but aside from that). They could have named him Humpty von Dumptiwickednes and he would sound more threatning ( In my opinion)

Yeah thats probably why I didn't watch much Sonic X either. The SatAM Robotik was indeed more threatening like he could be the true mastermind behind Skynet. Also in the games theres usually a repeated plot of Eggman being upstage by some random monster.

I recently saw the sonic colors game and while it has nice graphics the game has Pokemon in it. And Eggmans evil plot is building an amusement park... WHO IN THERE RIGHT MINDS THINKS THAT IS EVIL! However if you do like the game I will not judge anyone

It's about time a stamp like this got made. Watching the old Sonic cartoons on DVD has made me appreciate the name Robotnik more than Eggman. Unfortunately, Sonic X ruined a lot of the mainstream Sonic characters and took the Freedom Fighters out.
