Xande from Final Fantasy III.

This is part 3/11 of my little Final Fantasy tribute project. For those who still don't know FF has it's 25th anniversary this year ;3

He is known by many names, Xande, Zande, Xander, Zander, etc. but whatever you call him, his one of the most awesome main antagonists of the FF series. Yes, he's the main antagonist, not the damn cloud.

If you'd play FF3 you'd find that situation rather similar to another part of the FF series, mailny FFIX. You run around fighting Kuja and his minions all over the world, and even in another world, and what happens when you finally beat him? Necron shows up going "'ello, Imm'a teh true last boss, U Mad?", noboy heard about the guy, nobody mentions him at all, and yet he appears as the "true" boss outta nowhere...
And that's exactly what happens in FFIII, you run around fighting Xande and his minions all over the world, and what happens when you beat him? Cloud of Darkness shows up going "'ello, I'mma teh true last boss, U Mad?", nobody heard about her, nobody mentions her at all, and yet, she appears as the "true" last boss outta nowhere...

And yet for some reason, Square decided to include the CoD instead of him in Dissida, even though they included Kuja instead of Necron... I guess it's the boobs and a bishie fetish... if a "true last boss outta nowhere" looks as inhuman as Necron and the guy you beat before that is a bishie, they choose the bishie, but if the "true last boss outta nowhere" has boobs, and the guy you beat before that is a non-attractive evil wizard, they choose the boobs... way to go Square, my faith in you is getting more and more nonexistant by the minute

Also worth mentioning, is that Xande was one of the very few FF villains you did not intend to destroy the world for destructions sake. True, his objectives were rather self centered, but I'd say they're understandable.
You see, he was an immortal wizard, and one of 3 students under the great wizard Noah, who loved his students, and therefore bestowed certain gifts on them, though while the other 2 were bestowed with greater magical powers, what Xande got was the "gift" of mortality... seriously, WTF?... imagine you being immortal, and suddenly be given mortality you NEVER wanted by a teacher who seemingly "loves" you? I know I would be pissed as hell... so can you really blame Xande himself for breaking mentally after that? Or is the braindead, or downright trolling, great wizard at fault?

This brings up another similarity with another main antagonist, namely Sephiroth. A great character, and a rather good guy, going insane because of a certain demented and senile trolling bastard? I'd say it does look similar, the only difference being that Square did let you kill Hojo, a few times in a single battle even, to take out all your anger on him, but they never let you kill that trolling bastard of a wizard in FFIII, something they should really improve in a FFIII remake...

And if you're still to play FFIII, please do so, I doubt we'll see any new FF's as awesome as they used to be back in the days...
