Garland from Final Fantasy I.This is part 1/11 of my little Final Fantasy tribute project. For those who still don't know FF has it's 25th anniversary this year ;3
So this is garland, one of the most unique FF bosses. What makes him so unique? Well, he was the first boss in the first FF game, no other boss can claim that, also, he's the first last boss in the first FF game, something that no other boss can claim as well. Plus, I'm pretty sure that not many boss characters were ever both the first and last boss in the first game of a franchise ;3
And other than that, he's just a downright badass design, so I just had to draw that guy, I really had fun drawing all the details on the armor, I hope it looks clear enough though >3

Niestety taka dola bossów - Mają fajne charaktery nieraz, są uber fajni a i tak dostaną baty od bandy często ciotowatych, słabych charakterystycznie siusiumajtków (żeby nie było - dużo fajnych postaci staje przeciw Bossom, którym hołduję, jak mam okazję)

Well, akurat u Garlanda ciężko mówić o charakterze, a na szczeście pierwsze Finale miały bardzo fajnych bohaterów, których najczęściej się szczerze wspierało >3

The original Final Fantasy I was out in December '87, it's just that the US port was released in May '90

You cant Start a Final Fantasy List Without the Very First Final Fantasy Villian
But what Ercs me about him is that He's not Chaos in Dissidia which makes no sense since he and Chaos are the Same, I think it would have been cleaver at the end of Dissidia where Garland was the Final Boss and he Becomes Chaos just like in FF1

He didn't become Chaos in the same way that Sephiroth didn't become Safer Sephiroth. Square just wanted to keep the villains equal in a way.
And if you want to know who else is gonna show up, I guess you're just gonna have to wait and see, the project was meant to start in the past month, but I kinda had stuff to do, but it still ends in December >3

I know, but Garland was Chaos just like Sephiroth was Safer Sephiroth, and like I said, Square wanted the charas to be equal, without any mega powered-up versions.
Hehe, and let's just say, there is a certain "pattern", but nothing too specific, after all, there aren't many things I love more than chaos and randomness >3

That depends on the reference pic, i8n the original ones, he looked like a normal human with a slightly oversized helmet, though on the Dissidia ones he looks kinda more buff |D

Lol, no prob, like I said, it's a matter of which art you take as the base, I'm a fan of FF since the beginning, so I remember his FF1 arts more, while you just know his Dissidia version more ;3

Well, the first FF you can get on pretty much each and every site with NES roms, I usually download my roms at emuparadise.org, as for the Origins version, just look for it on a site with PSX ISOs, I'm sure emuparadise.org has it, but it's a popular enough title to be easily found on other sites too XD

And why would I? X-2 (aka "Square's Angels") was a video game version of a cheap hooker, all fanservice, but no actual fun, XII was crappy enough in my book, XIII was an abomination, and XIII-2 is all the shit from these combined. So while Square does have some nice titles (like Nier or The World Ends With You), FF is dead, and I prefer to remember it as the awesomeness it was.

well I'm sure you've seen the trailers and the gameplay right? if I was to be honest the gameplay is remeniscent of DMC and a bit of Crisis Core...the theme is set in much darker tone and the character isn't as heroic and badass as he looks...I think that if a series were to try and redeem Squars name it'll be this one

Not the first time Square tried a different approach... and all ended up looking almost the same...
They wanted to make something darker, they made Dirge of Cerberus... and we got a cheap shonen anime... they wanted to do some military drama, they did Crisis Core... and we got a cheap shonen anime combined with a bishie festival for yaoi fangirls... lets face it, Square just doesn't have the same touch as they did, they do TRY to make something of better quality, but they try to please too many different groups of fans, and end up making cheap shonen anime...

Squaresoft ftw, Square Enix ... Well i do love Judge Magister Gabranth. He is worth checking out, he is too cool to be missed. If you draw him he would be even better. And Judge Magisteress Drace too

i would want to request you create a definitive illustration or concept art out of my concept art-sketch. Are you be available for that? ^^ The char got both long hair and heavy armour on some joints.

Yes, Squaresoft was awesome, yet SquareEnix is good only at destroying the best titles Squaresoft had, like FF or Parasite Eve recently, as well as some Enix ones, most notably Valkyrie Profile, which had the most terrible sequels I've ever seen (even though Covenant of The Plume was some good gameplay, Square proved yet again they somehow enjoy destroying all mythologies they set their eyes on...).
And with all great characters from so many great series, I will certainly not waste my time with FF XII just for 2-3 characters, sorry.
As for "The World Ends With You", it's an awesome RPG for the Nintendo DS, and one of the very few good ones SquareEnix made. If you have a DS, or at least an emulator, I highly recommend you try it out.
And no, I don't do detailed concepts, this kind of arts takes quite a lot of time as is, and I certainly don't complain about lack of characters to draw ;3

Well i haven't played / wasted my time with FFXII myself haha. I would have if Gabranth and the Judge Magisters were the main charakters but no, you play as some weirdo pirate boy, just waiting for the cutscenes to see those 3 chars 
Ok, well my search goes. ... I know what you mean. (So many charakters! ... Judge Magisters for example xD) Yes i love them Judge Magisters and Magisteress' Drace ^.^ Then there also is Kaíne, Nier Replicant and Gestalt to draw ^^

Like I said, it's one of the very few goiod Square Enix games, and it doesn't seem like we'll get many more from them...
And I don't think I'll ever be drawing this guy, but maybe, just maybe, someday. For now, I don't even have enough time to neither play the games I really want to play, or draw all the art I'd want to draw.
