How do I attach the bones to the model itself because I'm trying to rig a model of Link that I ripped from Ocarina of Time and when I test the model only the bone that I am testing moves?

one question:
say we have a model or an object completely without a bones. Do I need to split them and "glue" them with bones or can I just add the bones.
and how do I weight them?

lunar-elegance In reply to The-Horrible-Mu [2011-01-24 15:10:18 +0000 UTC]

there are tutorials around showing how to weight bones and there are also some hidden deep in vpvp wiki

and about making things move? do I need to add the part (e.g. head) seperately to a model to make it movable (thus put a model together like a puzzle and "glue" the parts together with a bone) or can I just import a 3D-model and add bones to it?
that's all I want to know.

I'm sorry i really dont understand what your trying to ask, but you need to weight anything that didnt have bones before

Well, you know the barbed wire I'm working on, right?
I just added piece for piece, and "glued" them together with bones. lots of work. and does not look like I want it to be. so if I just make one long wire, add bones to it and weight them, would the wire bend the way I want? that would spare me a lot of trouble.
If you still don't know, forget about it, I'll figure it out myself.
(lol I just always do it the hard way).
