Description
So, I've been seeing a lot of art theft around. After that, I see horrid watermarks being PLASTERED all over the person's work. You've seen it, I'm sure.500 million pastes of their logo all over the piece.
Multiple "(c) of...." in various directions.
Let me SAVE you from pissing people off with your ugly watermarks with THIS tutorial. Your work will be just as safe without such clutter for your viewers! I use this technique on most of my important work when I prefer to save the large resolutions for the public!
SO HERE IT IS!
Luniara's Invisible Watermark Tutorial!
Let me know if you have any questions or other ideas, I'll surely look into it!

Well, way back when I first made the tutorial - when you would highlight the image, the watermark would stand out very prominently because of the halftone patterns. It would ruin a print job because of the pattern as well.Β

Is there a way to do something like this in Gimp or MS paint ? I don't have photoshopΒ Β

Adobe offers a free copy of Adobe CS2 if you go to their website. I've never tried Gimp and since you can not use layers in MS paint, I doubt you can do it.

How about drawings with transparent backgrounds?
and... when I low the opaticy the text looks even more distracting in my case... what am I doing wrong?

luniara In reply to Griwi [2014-01-28 14:00:37 +0000 UTC]
Ouh...that's an interesting question. That may be a bit more difficult given the transparency, but perhaps just try selecting the picture ITSELF and only applying the watermark to the character, object, etc. rather than the entire image. So, say you are going to add the watermark, before you do this, merge the layers of the image and ctrl click the layer to select ONLY the character or item that is on that layer and apply the watermark that way?

i liked this very much owo
not trying to be rude, but that looks pretty easy to photoshop out...e.e but i shall adjust!

luniara In reply to CinnaBunnz [2013-07-17 19:10:37 +0000 UTC]
Not rude at all. It's actually a half tone pattern placed all over the canvas. SO if you try photoshopping it out... you're getting an inconsistent pattern and swatch.Β

Hello. Can you please help me? I'm stuck at step 4 I tried but it's not coming out like yours.

luniara In reply to xSilverMoonscar [2013-06-17 13:01:47 +0000 UTC]
I can try! At what step does it start to look wrong?

xSilverMoonscar In reply to luniara [2013-06-17 15:54:36 +0000 UTC]
Thank you!
At Step 4 I can't make it change from the black to the transparent. I'm confused at this part.
"With the bucket tool selected, we are going to change the fill settings from 'foreground' to 'pattern' and then select the pattern we made..."

Love this! I was wanting to start putting watermarks on my pics, and making on like this would be perfect!

luniara In reply to Starcather9 [2012-02-03 02:09:54 +0000 UTC]
Or you can do that. The invisible watermark actually hinders reproduction and makes dots appear all over it- ruining their print job.

I had a person erase my signature from a picture I did not too long ago and she ruined it for everyone because I started signing where the pic would be ruined if it were removed. Your tut just saved my life <3

YOU are awesome! On every horribly self-defaced masterpiece, that I see on DA, I will make it my mission in life for the artists to see your true path of preserving ART, yet allowing them from preventing Scumbag thieves from stealing their hard work.
