Description
Location: Assmannshausen am Rhein, GermanyWhile shooting the vineyards and villages near Rüdesheim on the Rhein river in Germany, we heard this helicopter flying low back and forth over the landscape. It was a crop-dusting helicopter. I turned my camera to grab several shots as he flew over us. Fortunately he was very precise about his spray, turning it on only when he was over each vineyard.
He dusted the vines above us, flew off to the north, then he came back to make a run on the vineyard below us. As he made this pass, I took a half-dozen shots of of him flying below us. This frame showing the twin vortices of spray with the Rhein in the background was my favorite.
This was a totally serendipitous shot...I was at the right place at the right time with my camera out and shooting. As a private pilot, I appreciate the chance to get an aviation photo like this one.

The easiest thing for flying is to simply take a lesson. Go to any airport with a "learn to fly" offer. The first lessons are often cheap, and not only do you get to go up in the plane, you get to actually handle the controls.
Well worth the cost.

Cool shot!
BTW, the wine from Assmannshausen, esp. the one called "Höllenberg", is just as great!
