Final step of the healing, now let time do its thing..It still hurts so badly though...
I love you Prince.
Rest in peace baby.
In my gut I felt like I needed to do this. For myself and him.
I'm going frame shopping tomorrow, before I leave for the week, and its being hung where I'll be able to see it, every morning when I wake up.
This still needs a tiny bit of work though, mostly with the background.
I can't even begin to explain how much better it looks in life though. I'm really starting to despise both my scanner and camera.
I chose to use my pastels and velour paper for this personal piece because of the softer quality of the art, dreamy almost.
And finally, this means so, so much to me, comments are extremely appreciated but critiques will not be dealt with kindly.

What a beautiful piece. I just recently lost my cat of five years that I loved more than most people, so this definately tugs at my heart strings. Sorry for your loss, again, very nice piece.

Wow, this is a very stunning piece. Not only are Pastels extremely hard to work with, but the utter detail and emotion in this is really amazing. I can feel the sadness, the love, even the happiness. He really does look like a prince, and you did him absolute justice. <3
Although you might not think it would do any good, more often than not, getting another animal really helps the healing. It's not a replacement by any means, never could be. It's simply something to focus on again and start sharing love again. You might consider it <3

When he passed away, we had gotten kittens already. Our other female kitten had a litter (yes, kitten, she was only like 5 months old) of five, and we decided to keep two of them. It made me feel horrible at the beginning because Prince had to stay outside most of the time because of them. But having the kittens now does make me feel a bit better. They make me smile, and are a light to my life. <3

I'm glad it's all working out now <3 I've got a cat at home with my mom, and she's my baby of 9 years now. But since I can't separate her from her sister I couldn't take her with me. But as if fate knew my sorrow, a stray kitten came crying to my apartment one day. Although he's not my baby like the cat at my moms is, he certainly does take my mind off me missing her so much and gives me something to love <3

I lost a kitten (5 months old) to 2 golden retrievers, of all dogs...
He looked a lot like your cat, with the white/grey on his chest.
He was taken too quickly, and was the sweetest, smartest liitle thing I'd ever seen.
So, I know how you feel.

You lost a kitten to dogs? Thats horrible! Golden retrievers usually have an excellent temperament but I guess you get a bad one in every breed...

That's a funny coincidence, and same here.
Yeah...That's one of the things that bugs me the most. I mean maybe they were terratorial, but what is one cat going to do? It still surprises me, especially since they were slightly older dogs.
I think part of the problem was that their owner is always gone all day, and I have never once seen her take them for a walk. So I can't totally blame the dogs. Our neighbors who lived next to where the dogs were heard what was happening, and tried getting the dogs off my cat (they were pretty much kicking the dogs) but by the time they did it was too late. ;^; And it all happened an hour before I got home...I hated that day...But enough of my story ^_^;

It's a wonderful job, it's very realistic and I feel like I can almost see it in 3D , despite the quality of the picture ^^
You seem devastated, I know what it feels like, I lost my duck a few years ago (yeah, a duck ^^) and thought I have a picture on my desk sometimes I feel terrible cause I don't think of her very often but when I do I get so sad, I had horrible dreams for months and I'm terrified that something could happen to my 2 cats but I always think that sheΒ΄s fine and happy somewhere else, swimming in a big and beautiful lake (we always wanted to take her to a big lake in a park with other ducks but we never got the chance, to me that would be the version of Heaven for ducks, it sounds stupid, I know T_T) and my mother always tells me not to cry cause she'll be sad if I cry for her but most of the times I can't help it.
I hope you don't feel bad for too long, cause Prince will be always watching over you and he'll be alive as long as you remember him and even longer.
Sorry if this was too depressing but it just that I know how you feel like and it came ot like that, I'm really sorry TT_TT
Anyway, it's a wonderfull job and I like the rest of your gallery too, your style is so vivid and colorful, I'll take a better look tomorrow

Awww man, when I saw this I bust out into tears for the loss of one of my precious cats. Its been a few months, but all it takes is something simple (or in this case, something beautiful) to trigger the feelings back. I'm sorry for your loss, it would appear it happened quiet a while ago, but its not something gotten over quickly.
I hope someday I can make a beautiful memorial of my cat bear as you have for your cat prince. Now I better stop looking looking at your picture if I want to look at all presentable tomorrow.

this is a beautiful portrait you did of him, it truly looks like an actual photo. i'm sorry to hear that he passed away; he looks almost like one of my own cats i had before she, too, passed on. when she had passed, my dad took an old photograph that he had snapped of her and enlarged it, so now it's in a big frame on the wall in my room so i can see her everyday. it's very hard to lose a pet, especially one that's close to you
anyway, i truly love how you did this; the shading looks marvelous and the color in his eyes looks really good too. excellent work on the fur, as well.
it takes a while, though i hope that everything turns out okay.
