Description Final step of the healing, now let time do its thing..
It still hurts so badly though...

I love you Prince.
Rest in peace baby.

In my gut I felt like I needed to do this. For myself and him.
I'm going frame shopping tomorrow, before I leave for the week, and its being hung where I'll be able to see it, every morning when I wake up.
This still needs a tiny bit of work though, mostly with the background.

I can't even begin to explain how much better it looks in life though. I'm really starting to despise both my scanner and camera.

I chose to use my pastels and velour paper for this personal piece because of the softer quality of the art, dreamy almost.

And finally, this means so, so much to me, comments are extremely appreciated but critiques will not be dealt with kindly.

there is so much love in this image... you put your heart and soul into this small piece of remembrance for this huge character. You are taking your first steps on that hard journy without your friend... but really? He's with you every step of the way!

You've once again surpassed yourself! I think that pastel is the perfect media for this piece. I can't stop looking at his face, I get an urge to stroke his head and ears. I've seen him before on photographs you made, Prince has a very characteristic nose and eyes. And look at the paws, they're damn beautiful! You captured it fantastic. So much peace in this drawing (I think that's because of the soft light coming from the left) No pet could wish for a better memorial. And this is as far as you can control your healing process, you're doing great!

Aww... I'm so sorry to hear that, yeah it is really tough losing a pet 'specially one you've had for years.

R.I.P Prince!

So how have things been going for you? It's been a rather long time since we last talked. I know times are rough now.. just checking to see how you've been holding up.

I'm doing..better.

My holiday proved to be pretty good for me, really "cleansing". But when I got back I was hit with that despair again. Since we have to leave our pets behind every year, its always really nice to see them again when we get back. Usually Prince is always outside when we're gone so I look for him until I find him. But this year...
I just kind of stood there, not wanting to speak for fear of breaking down all over again.

Certain things have been really rough on me but I'm healing. I still need to find of frame for this portrait of him, I wish they weren't so expensive! D=

Aww yeah I see what you mean..
Sometimes I'd look at the very places he always sleeps (his favorite chair, spot on the floor, ect) its like waiting for him to pop out and say Hello. It's still hard for me and my family, but we should be getting a new kitten sometime soon.

Yeah I'm not sure if there's a Family Dollar where you live normally frames there aren't that expensive I think the most is $10 - $15 but that's around my area. XD

I've never even heard of that store so I'm assuming there aren't any in my area.

Something that is also really hard now is having the kittens around. They've taken over his catperch thing, and every time I see their reflection in the glass of the window I get a fleeting thought that Prince is outside. :c

Awww
Hey.. Prince is still with you.. whether he is outside or inside he's still with you as a spirit. c:
I see my cat's spirit alot in the same places he always naps. ^^ It is very rough without a cute fuzzball running around.

Wow, this is almost like a photo, I seriously thought it was real. I love the dreamy effect, it seems to be the only thing that keeps it from being boring reality. It feels like he is right there, watching you. The shading on the fur is most impressive, I love how you captured each strand (and with pastels??? Holy badger tails!) The lighting is partly what makes it so real I think because you have a very good concept of shadows, something I and many others lack to this extent. The expression is incredibly handsome too, I love those eyes. All the colours go so well together and I think the eyes in particular help bring the background and the feline together. Well done.

Thankyou. That was really sweet of you.

I tried so hard to get those individual strands in places like his ears and his whiskers. I spent so much time sharpening my pastels so I could get a fine enough line but in the end I ended up using a plain old white prismacolor pencil crayon. It was pretty tough on the delicate paper but it worked, and it stayed better than the pastels.

I terribly, terribly sorry to hear about your cat.

My cat died in '06, and I really need to finish my picture of him.

This is a beautiful memorial and even though it's hard, it is a loving tribute. You can see the care put into that picture.

Such a sweet looking cat... It's always hard losing a pet; I've been there several times. But most lived long lives, and none of them will ever be forgotten.

This is a wonderful picture you did of him. <3 I wish I could make something close to this as a tribute to my old dog that died. ♥ The detail in this picture is outstanding and it looks so realistic, great job! I'm really glad this helped you feel better :)
