possibry an Idlewild-inspired piece?
lookin pretty sweet thus far! So you just work straight on top of the sketch, or do you tracing-paper-transfer over the main lines first? I be curious!

Haha seemingly subconsciously inspired. My original inspiration for monarch is Idlewild, and the orange/black combo, and tigers I guess. Aaand I happen to be reading Idlewild for the 80th time right now so YAY FOR INSPIRATION!
Usually I always sketch first in a sketchbook, quick and messy, mostly getting down proportions and making sure everything looks okay. Then trace on tracing paper, and transfer to bristol, or whatever I happen to be painting on. Then I go to town, and usually don't have to erase my lines since they blend in with the paint and water.
