Description
"I have come to believe that there are infinite passageways out of the shadows, infinite vehicles to transport us into the light."-M.Beck

Good lord this was hard to photograph. SO BIG
But she's finally done! And not a day too soon, she's being entered into a competition tomorrow, need to deliver and a couple of other pieces too.
I had more plans for this, and I attempted them. Thankfully, mistakes are fully correctable with acrylics. Durrrp.
I'm not sure how long I spent on this in total, but quite a while. And its big! 16"x20", the largest detailed painting I've done yet. I think that is the next step up as an artist, go bigger. And I shall. 8)
Yeeeeah I don't know if this is a tiger, jaguar or leopard. Bit of all three.

Awe thanks! I struggled with the shadow shapes a bit, but I think they turned out okay.

The eyes are truly impressive. The whole painting is gorgeous, but the eyes in particular blow me away. I can't imagine doing that in acrylic.

Thanks! I always put a ton of effort into the eyes, in my opinion it's what brings the entire painting together.

The shadow on the frond itself is what gives this painting a lot of dimension and I love it. Conceptually, it makes the viewer believe the painting and the world it creates. The only thing that seems a little off to me, and this is really subtle, is the one strand of frond that ends just before the cat's eye (as if you were afraid to cover it up?). Its length is a little hard for me to believe in context of the rest of the plant. Maybe instead of shortening that part with the tip of the frond it could be torn instead? I would kind of be interested to see what that would look like since there would be a little brown on the edge to represent the damage to the plant. I know you already submitted this, but I just wanted to hear what you had to say about it. It's totally ok if you disagree, too! :)

Ah I do see what you mean! If I get the piece back (for sale in the competition too), I'll have to fix the frond.
And thank you for the awesome comment! 8D

Oh wow, the colours in this are stupendous! So vibrant, some of the colours even seem to glow! I love how you dealt with the shadows on the tiger's (or other large cat?) face, how the eyes stand out, how it blends into the shadows beyond. Very atmospheric, very eye-catching! You should definatly work at this larger format more often!

At first it was going to be a leopard but it definitely have some tiger features.
