Edit : Finally got a better photo of this babyMy boy's Valentine's gift. He's been not-so-subtly hinting that I should paint something for him. He loves surreal art, and I've been wanting to get more into surreal art so this is my start.
Personally I love it, and I know he will too.
He's seen the sketch already but not the painting.
I used metallic copper paint in the background (like this piece : kodriak.deviantart.com/art/Tre… so its very reflective depending on how you angle it. You can see it here. i611.photobucket.com/albums/tt…

The composition keeps drawing my eyes around the image, from the tiger's eyes to the raven and then back again. It's very haunting. Your guy is definitely one lucky man to receive such a gorgeous, soulful gift.

Oh he loved it, it was adorable to watch him remove the paper I wrapped it with, he almost didn't want to touch it for fear of somehow ripping or damaging the canvas.

This is so gorgeous!! Gosh it really inspires me to actually paint on canvas again! I love the metallic look of the background. Copper is my favourite looking metal. I love the splattering look everything has. The crow is amazing and I love the sort of oily effect. I also really adore that tiger's face! It has such a magical and amazed look in its eyes. The snout and whisker area are my favourite with the whiskers being a particularly awesome feature. All the fur details are also quite stunning. The lighting in this picture truly turned out excellent too!
