Edit : Finally got a better photo of this babyMy boy's Valentine's gift. He's been not-so-subtly hinting that I should paint something for him. He loves surreal art, and I've been wanting to get more into surreal art so this is my start.
Personally I love it, and I know he will too.
He's seen the sketch already but not the painting.
I used metallic copper paint in the background (like this piece : kodriak.deviantart.com/art/Tre… so its very reflective depending on how you angle it. You can see it here. i611.photobucket.com/albums/tt…

Mmhmm the metallic paint is my favorite feature of this painting! I'm planning to buy gold, silver and see what else they have, they might yield some pretty amazing results too.

Oh my gosh...this is an amazing piece! The intensity of the tiger's stare and the black tendrils that turn into a crow are wonderfully executed. I will say that the tiger's face seems just a little bit lopsided, but overall this is a wonderful, surreal, slightly scary work that you should be proud of. Nicely done!

Mm yeah I agree with you about the lopsided thing. I only noticed it when I held the painting up to mirror and by that time it was too late to fix. Dumb mistake on my part. Ohwell, its a learning process!

The shiny paint makes it neat to walk past, the image seems to change depending on the angle you look at it. Neat stuff, need to get more paint like that!

I wanted to tone down the creep factor a little so I added some more details on the bird, making it look less like some amorphous black blob coming out of tiger's face but I haven't updated deviation yet.
