Description ...We never know for sure.

I guess this supports my contest that I'm holding.[link]
The contest is based on facing your fears, so I figured that I'd make a deviation themed to it. I've always been freaked out about the ocean, but not really scared. The fact that you don't really know whats down there always makes me uneasy. I don't think I could ever be a scuba diver or anything. Nope.

But before anyone says anything about it, this is not a cheapshot at wolves. I have nothing against them except for the fact that they are becoming extremely overused.

Chyeah..so. I guess its up to you whether that wolf knows he's about to die or not. Hehe.

Ahdamn...I'm forgetting something, I know.

Oh, you're so lucky! A lot of the girls at my school were crazy about it. Me and my guy-friends thought it was gay. I saw the movie and read half of the book. Ugh, I regret it... O_o Me and my friend wanted to throw popcorn at the screen!XD

That reminds me of the time my dad chased me down the hall when I got up to go get my dinner. Not fun... ^^"

There always been things we never seen before. That's what scares us the most. Especially in the ocean. You can never really explore the ocean and see what its hidden in the depths. That was scares and freaks us the most. This pictures is awesome and describe just about how insecure we are about the unknown.

Oh the poor dog...

That's what I love about the human race: we're so scared of the unknown! I find it quite amusing and interesting how we've managed to explore the moon but we haven't even explored all of our own planet. Quite a wonder the oceans are. c:

True, true. Our planet is as just as mysterious has the moon or any other planet. It's that there something that are better kept hidden than disturbed. We already seen movie in what might happened if we stumble against something out of the ordinary. Because no matter how much people deny it, we are weak and docile creatures, and we can be easily killed or maimed or destroyed. Is that now we have weapons to defend ourselves. But sometimes, that's just not good enough..... *sigh* My, my what a beautiful and yet odd place we're living.

So terrible...yet so funny. XD I love the big-ass teeth. And the wolf is so oblivious...XP

I have to agree (sadly) that wolves ARE being over used. I wonder when it started, or why, or who was one of the original wolf artists who started this cult thing? I admit that I'm one of the many wolf artists, and it bothers me that wolves/canines are the only real things I can draw. I'm trying to work on other subjects to expand my horizons so I'm not so limited to this pool, but it's hard to.

When I first started out on DA I was a big wolf fan but all this obsession floating around has really turned me off. I'm more of a feline person than a canine person anyways.

I agree that its difficult to try and practice other creatures, especially when you're so used to one species. But keep trying! Its worth it.

Oh man XD I always get that feeling. Who KNOWS what's down there, or how deep it is, or what nasty biting things lurk there. Seeing anything isn't much better because then you DO see what's lurking XD
Looks like someone is about to have a little wolfie snack, lol... cool pic

Awesome pic. ^-^
I like how when you first look at it, you think "oh look at that little wolf swimming! Isn't that cute. <3" and then you slowly look down to see a huge mouth with teeth longer than the wolf and you are like "0_o".
I am a bit scared of the ocean myself.
Usually it's when I see a jellyfish wash up on the beach and think "What if there's more? What if there's GIANT ones?!" and freak out. -.-;

Thanks.
Mm, yeah. When I went on vacation a few years ago we were in the ocean when this sting ray(!!!) came right up to us. Being the daredevils we are, we picked it up. It was only about 1.5 feet across but it got me thinking about manta rays and such. Those are like 8 meters across and can weigh up to 2 tons. ((Just watched a show on them last night. X]))

Despite loving to surf, and living by the coast my greatest fear is what might be hiding in the water. I pretend when I'm surfing that my bright colors scare everything away...and I never go alone xD Giants squids terrify me, which is why I eat calamari lol

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

LuxDani In reply to PirateVam [2007-11-20 02:26:23 +0000 UTC]

I wish I lived on the coast so I could surf. I would make myself get over my fear. X]

Just..I've had some experiences that have creeped me out. I had a stingray come right up to me one time in the ocean. That was kind of cool though.

Lawl, yeah. I suppose thats why I would love to try shark meat. And that I've actually eaten calamari. Not a huge fan of it, but its the thought that counts. XD

PirateVam In reply to LuxDani [2007-11-20 13:46:21 +0000 UTC]

It's fun if you convince yourself...I pretend if any big monster tried to get me, I'd scare them or beat them with by board. I know it's not probable at all, but it's nice to go into it with the right mindset. Calamari is gooood and so is any sushi from my local sushi place, Mt. Fuji. Their hibachi is so cool! lol but I won't eat calamari that's still in the shape of a squid *shivers* only in rings or strips like at P.F Changs lol

LuxDani In reply to PirateVam [2007-11-20 23:20:16 +0000 UTC]

Cheeyeah, it is fun. Awhile back when we went to Dominican for a vacation with my family, a few of us were going to go snorkeling just off the shore on our own. It took us like ten minutes to actually even get over the reef because we kept scaring ourselves. We kept thinking, like "what if a *blank* gets us" and that blank was replaced with everything from a shark to an alligator to hippo. X]
And also while I was out there I almost ate an octopus. It seriously looked like they just plucked this tiny octopus only a few inches big and slapped it down on a plate. Without cooking it. I was seriously considering trying one until I saw something move.

I've never tried any sushi that was actually good, just the pre-made stuff you can buy at the grocery store. I want to try the good stuff though.

PirateVam In reply to LuxDani [2007-11-21 19:50:37 +0000 UTC]

:3 the sushi place in my town is delicious, my mom and I go there alot. The only octopus I've ever had is the tenticles cut up on my salad. It's good, but it's kinda rubbery at first. Lol if any of my american friends come to visit, I freak them out if we get into the water xD some of them have been over to see me long enough to know my tricks, but the very first time it's hilarious. Then I apologize, and make them my world famous thynnlefse xD well maybe not /world/ famous...¬¬

Agreed. Wolves are being way overused. Though this thought about them is a little scary.

LuxDani In reply to shanree [2007-11-18 02:48:16 +0000 UTC]

Hehe, I've done some things that would have scared you then. Including myself.

About two years ago at our lake, my cousin and I wanted to go swimming at about 2 AM. Of course, it was black, and there was like no moon, so we couldn't see a bloody thing. So we took a few of the disposable flashlights that we found laying around, stuck them in a ziplock bag and went swimming. It only lasted a few minutes because our parents got mad at us for screaming so much. XD

You have a lake?! O_o

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

LuxDani In reply to shanree [2007-11-18 23:34:07 +0000 UTC]

Not really.
Its a small lake about an hour away from civilization. We usually stay there for about a week, living with no electricity or running water.
Not many other people know about it, and we go there every year and have been for about the past seven or eight, so we just call it our lake.

I'm not so much bothered when I'm on a boat, its when I'm actually in the water. So many times I've given myself the creeps when I'm waiting for the boat to come pick me up in the water at the lake when I'm skiing or tubing. The water is so dark and murky.

I concur. The ocean is of many wonders, but is also quite unknown to the vast majority of humans. Many people don't understand just how much goes on down there, including myself.

Ditto that. Really, you don't know what could be down there. Not only is it dark, but its some areas are completely unexplored. What creeps me out is that humans with their technology can test to see if there is life on Mars, but still have trouble with the bottom of the ocean.
I found this one picture on the internet yesterday. [link] It seriously gave me chills. It just shows that you don't know what exists and where they are.
