...We never know for sure.I guess this supports my contest that I'm holding.[link]
The contest is based on facing your fears, so I figured that I'd make a deviation themed to it. I've always been freaked out about the ocean, but not really scared. The fact that you don't really know whats down there always makes me uneasy. I don't think I could ever be a scuba diver or anything. Nope.
But before anyone says anything about it, this is not a cheapshot at wolves. I have nothing against them except for the fact that they are becoming extremely overused.
Chyeah..so. I guess its up to you whether that wolf knows he's about to die or not. Hehe.
Ahdamn...I'm forgetting something, I know.

Lol I just want to know what a wolf is doing out in the middle of the ocean.
I never go swimming enough to know if I'm scared or not. Except being in a boat makes me nervous.
As for the art, It's fantastic. It really gives me an ominous feel, so good emotion here. And the shading and water effect is really awesome too. Nice work

Mm, thanks.
I guess its odd for me. I feel almost completely safe in a boat, but when I'm in the water I'm always filled with a weird feeling. Especially in the ocean.

Wow, that's alarmingly creepy! I think the part that really cinches it is the fact that the wolf/dog looks so happy and carefree and oblivious.
Nice work!

Awesome! I guess I understand your 'kinda fear' but on the other hand also not. I'm a pretty fearless person. Not that I'm never frigthened, but I just don't have something really big returning often. Still, I've already tons of ideas for the contest, I think a couple of ten. I'm planning to start today, only decidinig which medium I will use. I only know sure I'm going to make the sketch with pencil. Neat job you did on this, I like the bigness of the water monster
And the teeth

My fear...is hard to explain. I'm not completely terrified of the ocean, it just really creeps me out. I have a hard time even looking into the depth of water, even like a deeper lake. The fact that you really don't know what could be down there just gives me the chills.
Great, can't wait to see your entry. I'm looking forward to it.

I think I understand what you mean. When I was younger, I used to be quite afraid of deep water. I had *and have* a big imagination, and when I got swimming lessons for the first time in a deep swimmingpool, I thought there were big wales and sharks swimming underneath me. I was always glad if I was out of that water. But that fear faded away as the years passed. Though I still don't like it when I can't see of feel the bottem of a lake or something. You don't know what's beneath you.

Feeling the bottom of a lake grosses me out. At my cousin's house, the bottom was always so gross and muddy so we would dare each other to dive off the dock and plummet into the soft ground. I swear, the actual bottom of the lake was a meter deeper than the layer of mud. And there are a ton of leeches in the mud, too.

Ew, that's gross. Well, I mostly swim in the sea, that's only a km from my house. I actually like the feeling of the sand, but I agree that the bottom of a lake is gross. Still, better gross, than deep and dark

This reminds me of that one television series I once watched...it was about these some three kids who had a baby...plesiosaurus. Ooh my favorite FOX5 show. <3
Oh but gorgeous. The atmosphere is very nice...how above the water you're kinda ignorant what can lurk beneath that murky surface...haha! >3
I just love that gradient you put into the water; how it kinda just naturally shifts form clear surface water to the dark bottom reaches. Makes me feel scared actually. ._.;
Ah but I have to agree with you bout the ocean. I'll just be on a bridge above the ocean and you actually see those rippling, dark waves. Makes me think that a huge sea serpent will just rise up.
Very very nice piece. <3

Now this is reminding me of another movie.
First one is Madagascar when that duckling gets eaten by the croc ((XDD)), and the second is Anaconda. I love that movie. A little farfetched but still good. I don't know if you've seen it but I'll say anyways incase you have. The part always scares me though when they're tramping through the swamp part just before one of their group gets pulled under, you can see the oversized snake swimming below the surface. Gives me shudders every time.
I know...you just don't know whats down there..
Thanks.

Oh god Anaconda! <3
Very scary thriller, but awesome, no?
Egads I swear when I saw that part I shrieked and bit my pillow. Dx
The ocean is really scary... >>;
Which is why I've dumped swimming in beaches and such for public pools. D:

Great job - the emotions in this remind me almost of a movie poster - sort of 'Balto meets Jaws'
Thank you for reminding me that I need to enter your contest... When is the due date?

Hehe, someone should do that. I've never been a big fan of Balto, but I'm sure some would appreciate it. XDD
The deadline is December 15th. I'll change it a bit if someone needs more time, but I'm trying to keep it a little shorter than my last contest.

Mwah, that was evil.
can't you just picture it? Swimming along, when all of a sudden...SNAP...no more wolfie.
Reminds me of a scene from that movie Madagascar or something when they're looking at that duckling swimming around, then this croc comes and eats it. I cracked up when I saw that.

Are you kidding? I'd love to see this as an animation, you see the little wolfy swimming, then something grabs its leg and pulls it under, then a giant mass of bubbles and blood spews up from the water.

It gets kinda freaky once you get over 80 feet down though because the fish start getting really freaking big.

Finally! Someone else understands what it's like on the ocean. That always freaked me out too... I love the ocean, don't get me wrong, but you won't ever catch me swimming in it. Just the idea that there is more ocean out there than land... It's an entirely different world there. They don't come into my world; I ain't going into theirs. Not when they could pwn my ass x-D

I've been in the ocean several times, and yes, they still scare the living daylights out of me but it helps me cope and get over it. Just in the spring we went on a vacation to the Dominican Republic so it was hard for me to avoid the water, but when we tried to go snorkeling on our own, I nearly flipped.

I agree with your comment about wolves...I'm starting to forget how to draw felines. Lame of me, yes?
I can see the sketches of other toothy mouths in the pic. Lolz. c:

Ohgod, I'm so lame! I forgot to delete the base sketch. I had stretched everything else, thats why it doesn't line up. XDD
I know, its sad. I've become decent at drawing wolves, yet its just not a thrill to draw them anymore.
