Description my fractal renderer grows more powerful

i guess this is where souls are grown... those bushes didn't want to sit still so the pic was kinda hard to take.

edit: changed the name, inspired by =banana-tree in the comments.

Wow, super! What really are these motion? What does it mean??'cause I don't think fractal can be these animated object like that for motion blur do the job... Curious and beautiful!

motion blur applied to fractals produces really amazing effects, since it gives a visual indication of the different structures (based on how much they blur and therefore how fast different parts are changing). so basically, if i have as input to my fractal equations a bunch of parameters x1, x2, x3, x4 ... and so on, then i can make keyframes like (time1, x1, x2, x3, ...), (time2, x1, x2, x3 ...) etc, and interpolate between them for a given frame. averaging lots of frames into one, for example rendering 16x as many frames then mixing 16 frames into a "final frame", produces the motion blur effect.

i used to have some animations online on my website (which is now gone), but you can check out a much older experiment using this method here: [link]

That's SUCH an amazing work, I can't believe it!

You mentioned "mp3", which brought me to "music"...

I think, that was done, before, already, but I dunno, exactly:

Do you think, you could prog a fractal generator, based on a music-input?
So to say a "sound to pic converter", or something, that grows in real-time (which would be a visualizer)?

i've been meaning to do that for many years, there's actually a very natural way to do it. thanks for reminding me, it's good to keep it in mind from time to time because it really will be cool

so, you're gonna make a music to fractal converter?

(I'm pretty sure, it's far harder, but the other way round would be cool, too^^)

some intense motion in this one. is that a filter you got for that blurry blueness up top or is it randomly inputted? once again awesome work bud.

Can only barely work the test version of this program, but I know I'm just hankering for the full build. It's so powerful and awesome, has the makes of the next level of fractal programs!

in fact the next generation is being actively worked on, specifically multithreading and network rendering/preview. i'm still thinking about how to allow the user to finetune the parameters (by now it's several megabytes probably), that's the biggest challenge.

layers, complex number colours/filtering and animation support are already in, i've written an equation parser/evaluator for scripting before which needs to be added, and i also want to add some controls for feeding frequency spectra (eg from mp3, since it's already coded in terms of frequencies) into various parts of the fractal parameter set...

thing is, exams are coming up soon and i need to study myself into a coma during (all of) september, then write exams during october after that i'm having wisdom teeth removed and moving to new zealand. so... it might be a while before the thing is in a properly releasable condition.

heh, it's easy for anyone to get good at something by being obsessive about it all through highschool i must've spent some 3 hours, in total, on schoolwork. i have the marks to show for it too

the trick now is not to do the same in university... *sniff* once it's over things will be great!

i've been working on a program for... a month i think. it makes fractals.

there are some testing releases in my latest journal entry; if it doesn't work for you (in particular if that microsoft installer fails, as it does for some) note me and i'll make a non-microsoft build for you.
