Actually, in our human eyes, we really are. Helpless and broken.
But with the eyes of faith, the eyes of God, we can see that we are saved. We are redeemed. We are new creatures. And that is the most important truth ever.

Ah, but it does not always make us happy and joyful, to be His followers in this world. If we truly work for Him, we will be persecuted, we will be attacked by the enemy, we will often have real trouble making true Christian friends. We do not turn back, having put our hands to the plow, but we wish an honest picture painted of a future that is not as rose-colored as those who have not walked far along the road sometimes paint. We may look like the right-side picture to God, and certainly that is a face that says, I hope I make you happy now, Lord, but we do not have to hope we do, we know we do, even if we do not feel happy at the time. In our spirits we travail to bring forth His light in us, and it is He who gives us strength and restoring in our inward being. Healing is not instantaneous, and those who labor that many be healed, that He heal the many, may have long to wait, even until Heaven, to see that joy realized in our natural being.

I am a Christian, but the left image is almost more appealing. It isn't that I do not believe in Him or anything. I have received the baptism of the Holy Spirit. My style just tends to lean toward the one on the left (not as extreme as the pic)

All right. Let's put it in simple words.
The woman in the left looks like the person I was before.
And the one in the right looks like me now.
Even if I've known Jesus all my life, I was somewhat slave of sin, and made blind by it. I wasn't free of my own acts, and I used to feel very miserable about myself.
Now that I've been freed thanks to the grace of Jesus and His Word, my whole being is in joy, peace, and gratefulness. All the emptiness of my heart is fulfilled by the Word of God.
I also hope that all the people that I love and all the rest of the Humanity, blinded by sins, will experience the bliss the children of God live.
