Well, maybe it's because it's easier to represent His human nature than His godly one.
I mean... according to the Bible, the sight of Jesus in all His glory is enough to make you fall down as though dead.
So... I just did a very pale version of Him, I guess x)

I think somewhere it says something about no man can see God and live, but I suppose that refers to the form of the Father, and not the Son.
Places in the old testament indicate The Son appeared to man before(I.e telling Abraham about Isaac, Isaac wrestling with the man in the desert, Daniel's vision)

Yes, it is what God says to Moses (exodus 33:20). But I was referring to the Revelation book, when John sees Jesus in His glory and falls at His feet (rev 1:17). He does not die but feels like it.
In the old testament, it is not really the Son but messengers of God (=angels).
Anyway, what matters is : Jesus is awesome ! : )
