Description
Remember chaps, donβt let the little ladyfolk stray too far from the parlour: the world is full of absolute blighters, all bally foreigners to boot!
(Had to break my own rules with this one: In addition to reflection I had to use the dreaded, and mostly useless, "specularity" setting. I prefer blurred reflection to specularity but unfortunately that blurred out the details on the brass....Ho hum! Nonetheless I managed to do a whole pic using only 4 different materials....And 20 bump maps)

Basically "brass" and "alabaster" and bump maps, and it rendered extremely quickly (in just 5 or 6 minutes) .... I just have to continue experimenting

Alabaster >>>> albΓ’tre (it must be a French word)
I was taught that the circonflexe "^" in French almost always becomes an "S" in English: CΓ΄te/Coast, ForΓͺt/Forest, Γle/Isle, 2^4/SixteenΒ Β

Do you know that in old French, "forest" was used, instead of its actual version?
It's the case with most cases where in French you find nowadays "^" on vowels.
and yes: "albΓ’tre" is French

An interesting experiment to say the least! A picture that relies entirely on bump maps

I'm not gonna even attempt to jump into that discussion - ill equipped as I am! Β Lovely, as always. Β What a strange skin tone she has though (I suppose he does to, but I'm looking at her). Β Almost blue - like she doesn't get out much.
I think the specularity worked out just fine. Β
I've heard of having a pair of brass balls, but a trio of brass apples?
Cheers!

Ah phraught....the strange "skin tone" was my attempt at a cheap polished alabaster I remember from many years back, a poor man's ivory if you will and usually found with brass. As a child I spent many a happy day rooting through London junk shops and jumble sales with my mother, who had a penchant for art nouveau/deco. My home was literally full of jingoistic trinkets from the Empire and the RajΒ
