Description
Did a fun little pattern with multiple layers of masking tape and Tumble Dye. Topped it all off with some Scocthgard Outdoor silicone water-resistant spray to protect the cotton canvas from puddles and dew.Pattern is a mix of one of my previous patterns (bottom photo, top center), with a touch of Cuban Leaf and accidental splinter. Like from a two-by-four or something. This was the project that I was testing the other fabric out for: madcomputerscientist.deviantar… . Shoe is Palladium Pampa Hi, I found a good deal. :3

How did you get the 'infra red' picture of these, night vision or camera effect!? Been wondering about this for a while but too scared to ask

All good. It's a NIR filter, they start <$10 USD on Ebay here in the US.

This may mean nothing from someone who knows very little about camo besides applications found in nature, but these look pretty legit. Nice job.

Thanks! They were a lot of work though, and they turned out a bit rough for most people's tastes probably.
If I were to sell any, I'd prefer to just print the fabric and try and talk to a shoe maker about the whole putting it on the shoe part.

AAh SO, this is your secret project, they do look remarkably good, so have you dyed these the same way you did the fabric?
The Palladiums are a good boot, aren't they based on the French Patagau boots used in their Indochina war. So should be very sturdy in a number of Terrains, would the colours bleed without the Scotchguard spray?
You used the Tumble dye camo pack for all the colours?

It was my secret project! And I did use the same fabric dye that I've used before, so they should be permanent (I heat set them carefully in front of a space heater). The silicone was just an effort to keep my socks dry in fun weather.
Their boots were adopted as issue by the French Foreign Legion at one point at least. From my experience so far the soles are extremely rugged, though I have yet do go hiking with them.
On the dye I did use the standard camo pack, though I also bought a normal tie-dye color set too. Red augmented the brown to make it more rusty, and yellow and green made for a lush, vibrant green. A couple of 98¢ standard travel spray bottles allowed for easy mixing and application.
