Description Well, my internet went out this evening and decided a good way to pass the time would be to work on some Loving Hate pictures. Because dammit, Dopple's fun as hell to draw. Besides that, I just saw The Hunchback of Notredame, and maker I couldn't stop putting 1 and Dopple into Frollo and Esmeralda's roles. Anyhoo, came up with the idea for this picture and a little vignette to go along with it.

Also, apologies about inconsistancies with the coloring of their outfits compared to the movie. Working without references, so had to go by what little I could recall.

The story would probably go a little differently than dictated by the movie, seeing as there are fundamental differences between Esmeralda and Dopple. Esmeralda, although a gyspy, is a good person deep down, having a sound moral code. Dopple, however, is...well, Dopple. she's self-serving, manipulative and a natural born trickster. After 1's -Frollo's- creepy moment of smelling her hair in the cathedral, it wouldn't be disgust she'd express, but a sense of "Well, this ought to be interesting."

Alright, this little scene would take place after 1.1 -Quasimoto- showed Dopple -Esmeralda- around the belltower. However, Dopple, deciding that she'd rather not get 1.1 involved, slips back down into the main Cathedral, nosing around to find her own way out. Deciding to weevil a way to speak with 1 alone, she allows herself to be captured outside the Cathedral and is brought promptly by the guards to 1's chambers, right after the lovely Hellfire music number.

"sir?"

"What is it?" 1 said, his voice hardly above a low hiss.

"...is everything alright?" the gaurd asked, stepping into the lengthy hallway.

"Just..." 1 began, his lips pursed in thought for a moment before managing, "...some trouble with the fireplace."

"Right." the gaurd said with a small nod. "We've captured the gypsy girl, as ordered."

"so soon?" 1 said, a rather sinister grin tugging at the corners of his lips. "Bring her to me. station men at every exit in this wing; doors, windows, everything."

"Yes sir," the gaurd replied with a salute and turned away, returning with the gypsy at hand. Her normally proud stride was encumbered by a set of shackles 'round her ankles, arms pinned behind her back by the guard. 1 nodded to the gaurd, waving a hand.

"Leave her, keep post outside the door in case your assistance is needed." 1 said, looking Dopple over with a scrutinous leer.

"Yes sir." the gaurd replied once again, turning on his heel and coming back the direction he had come. The heavy thud of the door being pushed into place announced that they were alone, 1 pressing his fingertips together as he began to walk around the gypsy.

"Couldn't even last an evening without trying to escape. Pathetic." 1 said. Dopple held her tongue, arms crossed behind her back, standing prostrate as 1 inspected her. He frowned at her confidence, her lack of fear in the face of this situation. "Have you nothing to say for yourself?"

"What are you expecting me to say?" Dopple asked, turning her head slightly to glance at 1. "To apologize? To break down into a fit of tears and beg you for forgiveness?" Her straight faced expression twisted into a grin, chuckling quietly to herself. "And you're calling me pathetic."

1 frowned. Bound and at his mercy, she still spoke as though she had complete control of the situation, he didn't like it one bit. "You'd do best to watch your tongue." 1 said, advancing towards her a step. "Unless you're planning on staying under lock and shackle until your end." He glanced down at her chained ankles, vaguely noting the way the fabric of her dress and wrap hugged against her hips, looking her back in the optic with a grim smirk. "I find them very becoming of you. Your kind are best kept under lock and key, or hanging by rope and noose, if I had my way."

"Then I should be glad you're not allowed to have your way," Dopple replied, narrowing her optics a bit.

"Feh, I'll do as I please." 1 said. He couldn't help but notice the way the flickering light of the fire caught the angle of the gypsy's feathered hair, the sheen of the plumes the focal point of his attention. "I didn't get to where I am today by allowing myself to be told what I may and may not do. I was choosen for this office because of my ability to remain resolute, even in the worst of situations. When I make a decision, there is no debate in it. When I believe an action must be taken, I go through with it. And, on the rare occasion, there is something I desire, I take it."

His words were so weighted, so direct and so strong, Dopple couldn't help but wonder just what she had gotten herself into, the Judge's claw-like fingers beginning to thread through her feathered hair in a covetous manner. However, she did not pull away, nor give any indication that she was beginning to doubt herself.

"That was quite a display you put on at the festival," 1 said accusingly, rather pleased with the gypsy's quiet compliance to his possesive actions. His tone indicated that this wasn't meant to be a compliment, continuing. "Witchcraft is an offense punishable by death. You are aware of this, aren't you?"

"I would be worried if it were witchcraft and not simply sleight of hand," Dopple replied, her feathers bristling in a pleased manner in spite of herself. "smoke, mirrors and some simple gifts from the goddess abo---ah-ACHOO!"

With that, the gypsy brought her hands up to her face, releasing a colorful scarf of yellows, reds and oranges with her sneeze. Dangling the gauzy handkerchief, she grinned. "see? Harmless. The trick is to distract the audience from what's really going on with one hand, and work the real 'magic' with the other."

1 had paused in his scratching at the sudden display, but resumed stroking her feathers nary a word. However, Dopple flipped the handkerchief around his wrist, tugging it gently forward at her waist level with a widening of her smirk. The judge gave a short 'hmph', narrowing his eyes at the gypsy's attempt at regaining control of the situation.

"There is nothing more that I desire than to wipe that ridiculous smile from your face and extinguish the flames of Hell that burn within your gaze," 1 said, allowing his free hand to be pulled forward, fingertips brushing the fabric of her dress. Dopple grinned, bringing her other arm up, pleased with how easily he was being distracted with coveting her feathers and trying to get a hold of her 'round the waist.

"The one thing you have to keep in mind when you play with fire is that if you're not careful," Dopple said, easing a small knife from within her sleeve into her palm, holding it out of 1's field of vision, directly behind his head. "...you're going to get burned."

Hey hey hey, he already had his Hellfire music number. Now the fire's the primary light source in the room. Regardless of the illumination point is 1 likes coveting them feathers. XD Thanks for the comment!

Dopple: Hey now, I look good. Period.

-ahem- sorry, spontaneous character interjections. Thank you! I tried to branch out with the colors as much as possible and remember as much of her dress design as possible. XD

That's pretty good.

Thanks! Yeah, my internet went out so I was just going from memory last night. Overall, really happy with the result. Even though every time I use black pastel for the background, I somehow get it all over my face. XD

XD Dangit, I wanted to draw something of 1 coveting Dopple's feathers given there's nothing for it and you beat me to it! Ah well. This was so epic and amazing, I'll get over it

Love the colors and the atmosphere of the picture and the dialog in the story...fff I love it. Awkward staring moment AND feather coveting = YUS. CX

Like dancing scorpions Derp, like dancing scorpions. Actually, I had the idea for it because I had the same realization that there are no pictures of 1 coveting her feathers.

And, at this point I'm not doing it intentionally, once again 1 is in the dark, drab colors and Dopple's donning every color of the rainbow between her dress, corset and the scarf she has around 1's wrist.

As far as the writing goes, blast it all, I think I may have another fan fiction in the works. I'll have to explain 1.1, but honestly, I think it'd be worth it.
