Description Characters used:

"Robin" (Tim Drake)
"Annie"
Matthew Hagen aka "Clayface"

...I realized last night that I was wrong about the due-date... I thought it was the fifth, but it's actually TONIGHT. And I had a badly drawn concept sketch of what the characters might look like in Scribblenauts form. Yeah, I didn't have as much time as I thought.

Well, at the very least, I hope it stirs some people's memories for the one appearance I know of for 'Annie', although there's probably more, I just mostly know the animated series, and whatever wikipedia tells me.

I'd write more like I usually do, but I'm a bit late on a couple things, and I'm a little nervous about what to write in a contest entry desc, so I'll just leave it at this.

She is yeah, it's a shame you don't see too much of her, but I can understand why I guess.

Because she’s dead 😭

Well yeah that, which is why she's only in that episode. Β (I think I remember hearing that her character design has cameo appearances in some obscure places, but obviously those aren't helping her popularity)

It feels so weird not being one of the only ones on dA who's now a bit more familiar with Scribblenauts anymore, haha.Β  This contest definitely has some unlikely entrants in it.Β  Never imagined you'd enter it either, though more or less because I remember you saying you were bored with the original version.Β  Still I do remember you saying you thought the Wii U version of Unlimited fixed a few of your concerns, so it's entirely off-base.

Your manga style may have been put aside here, but traces of it show up in good form.Β  I really like how this seems to be one of the closest entries I've come across that resembles the official opening trailer for the game in terms of stylistic approach and action. Β Β  Nice use of shading and textures, and also the widescreen format of the composition is an interesting choice that helps to lend itself to the dynamism of this.Β  Overall, pretty solid work dude.

Keep it up.

I loved the idea for Scribblenauts from the beginning, but yeah, I had trouble getting into it after a while because it was 'too loose' in its design. At first that was fun and interesting, but it quickly turned into a matter of reusing the same solutions way too often. I really wish I could get the newer versions, but I'm pretty dead for money now.

And well, that's what I like about anime/manga style .. it's basically just a stylized version of realistic-proportions, so I don't have to change TOO much to change styles, whether that's cartoon or fully-realistic(although that's definitely harder and less interesting to me since I always see it everywhere). The main concern I had was trying to imitate the official art style, which unfortunately looking through the entries, is VERY well done by almost every other contestant. I really wanted to imitate that coloring style too, but I just couldn't get it down in just two days, although I'm not sure if I could have in five or more(and the lineart style is also probably holding me back too really).

Understandable.Β  I'm actually not entirely sure about getting the new version myself, since it seems somewhat limited in scope in terms of what you can do, when compared with Unlimited.Β  But as a team-up with DC characters, the premise itself is kind of neat.

Well, they say you can't win it if you're not in it.Β  I'm not even going to bother trying to enter since my time right now is devoted towards other things, but I doubt I'd win anyway.Β  I think you at least would have a bit of a better chance than I would, had I entered.Β  Look at this in a way as being able to showcase your diversity in subject matter and being able to show a different side to your usual offerings.

Yeah, I guess in some ways it's a bit limiting...really it's probably a tradeoff that even Unlimited might have had...being too confined in some kind of structure makes you sometimes use different solutions, but they're specific to their individual problem, I guess.

Well, I wouldn't call it diversity because I'm the same person, and I'm making the same mistakes that kind of identify my work as it is now... I mean, like I said, anime/manga style is diverse enough on its own that I can bend it to imitate other things a little more easily than if I had declared myself cartoon-only or realism-only. I just happen to sit in what is in my opinion the best of both worlds, I guess.

But speaking of showcase, I'm hoping that being in the 'Browse' section of the contest will help me reach a little more people than usual...although, it hasn't yet because it's automatically sorted by popularity, and that first Zatanna! entry is pretty dang good.

Haha, thanks a lot! I think out of the 'Noir Batman' episodes, this was my favorite too. I'm sure there were some other good ones, and I think I actually didn't like it the first time up until the big reveal, but it was really great after that point..

I thought it was a little strange that she was wearing the exact same colors as him though. It gave me a red flag about her appearance in the city. Β

I completely didn't realize it until I did research for this piece, and someone had commented about it... I don't know why, I guess it's because I'm not used to Tim Drake as Robin or his color-choices in costumes, but all I could think was 'wow, this girl's style is so similar to anime, I wonder who she is and why she's so different'. And at the same time, I was lamenting how this was going to be one of those 'after school specials' about child abuse and 'Sonic/Sailor Robin Says' sorta 'get help before it's too late' thing...so... it completely passed me by. But after I saw the comment I totally used the exact same base colors for them both, haha.

It was like that on the show too. I saw her colors and all I could think was "She's setting you up Robin, watch what your doing!" But instead he became the love struck teenage boy of the situation. Go fig. XD
