Description
So... this dropped out of pre-production, actually just playing with the filters, not even the final render. I know it's not quite fitting in style overall (though it works in the context of the story), but I decided to give a damn and post it anyway. I'll throw the final render in afterwards, maybe a nice comparison. It does work in only certain sizes depending on screen and distance, because of the impressionistic effect. And there's only one line of text to go with it, so that's easy.
"I ran with the wild horses."
Daz3D Iray render, some PS post work - Topaz filter.

Never saw that one (never really warmed up to Mr. Kostner, so to speak)... but certainly... it's a very similar culture.

Entertaining, but it was certainly formulaic with characters that were a bit one dimensional.... The cinematography was amazing though.

A very beautiful work. Thanks for submitting it to my group. I won't transfer it to the main galleries because not enough obvious historical elements to my criteria but I want to congradulate you

Don't worry, I was not certain in that case anyway. It's really so far back as to be a bit vague. Thanks for the feedback

Ok, when I opened this I was immediately elated and then instantly decided to stop rendering (hopefully that will wear off) because this is the style of image I love and I don't know how to achieve it. This image is PERFECT!! I probably prefer paintings over photo-realistic renders, so I find this absolutely gorgeous! The colours and movement and fantastic composition makes me want to make a 3 meter wall mural of it. It's so free and natural, you did a brilliant job on all the horses. Did you use several Topaz filters.

I find it useful to put an early version of a picture through a couple of filters just as a test, usually I get some good feeling about how the composition/contrasts/color palette work out.

Please don't stop, you're doing some of the most beautiful 3D pics here, that would be a sad day
But - I'm glad to hear that you like the painted effect. I'm always a bit reluctant to use the painting filters, because most people seem to be after the photorealistic stuff, but I like this kind of pictures a lot. It's still way of real impressionistic pictures that have such a great way with light, but what can I do, I always make a mess on the other end of the paint brush.
In this case, I will post another version soon, that is based on a much better render (this was a really crappy low res texture run) with a much increased resolution, that you might want to check, too. I will also post the render as reference. I actually used only one filter here (I'll post which one that is with the hq version), but some photoshop work to get the colors and light to stand out better, which is really dependent on the picture but nothing special. I also tried the Dynamic Auto Painter software, but I feel it's to cumbersome and slow for everyday work. It IS interesting what you can do with it, but you probably have to buy it to get rid of some limitations.
In this case, the painted mood actually fits with what is happening in the story, so I've decided to push a whole series of this kind of pictures in a combination of both render and painted versions. Maybe you'll find some more you like

I've got a HQ version in the pipeline, this one had really crappy textures, no SubD etc...Anyone's guess if the added work is really worth the bother... I'll put it up on weekend I guess.

Happy you like it. Often 3D people are so intent on the photorealistic stuff that it's seems bit intimidating to go in the other direction. But I have to admit, I just love this kind of stuff. Probably I'm also slightly sentimental, but don't tell anybody.

I thought you'd say she never would keep up with the horses.
But honestly, if you come from the right angle you can do that, and easily jump up. I'm stilll alive to prove it. Those are ponies after all.

In any case, it is dangerous, even a goat can trample a child.
I recall cases when young children manage to drown in a basin or hang themselves on a wire from a sconce. A kind of natural selection.
