Description
Pokedex Challenge #52 #53I'm drawing the pokemons as they appear in the gameboy games: pokemon red and blue version, while I learn how to draw with Paint Tool Sai.

I miss the old persian sprite! It has the same body size but all the features are enlarged, also it's ears are pointed.

I had to change things a little, too much grass for me ;~ But nature is always easier to draw, especially if I have to work fast!

oh yeah nature feels a bit easier cause u can kinda screw it up a bit and it still looks somewhat ok, while if you screw up buildings and geometrical shapes it juts ends up looking way too off unfortunately, drawing cities is always stressful for me lmao

Ohhh! That's why artists "love" nature. You figured out! It's not easy to like to draw geometrical stuff, nature doesn't have straight lines.

The kitties <3 The colour palette and the environment in which they are is quite fitting for both of them ^^
And Persian's old sprite is much closer to Meowth, looking much more like a domestic cat (Persian's actual appearance resembles more like a big cat with the rounder ears, those ears really do make a difference)

Once again: I love the colour palette <3 The gold on the pokemon seems to glow against the duller, blue-ish background. Also for some reason I really like how you painted the fence in the back

Like... only literal sketches xD The final sketches for most of my more recent pieces were made digitally, then I printed them and traced it to my "good" paper. Makes it much easier to tweak some things last minute

Yes, try it, it's super helpful! Especially with things like watercolour paper or pastel board where you can't really erase that well!

Watercolour is very ungrateful, the logic is exclusive to it, so I'm surprised how well you manage to use it so well

Hi, Paleona! Persian's old sprite is super cute! They made it more like a cat and it became... not so unique as before.
Do you know if ochre is inside the chromatic circle? Gold isn't a color, it's a chromatic effect made with ochre. But at the same time, browns aren't in the circle (also aren't "colors"), so... do you know if it's possible to make it using just primary colors?

You use colors so well! So I thought you knew the technical stuff. It's amazing how you use color theory more like a feeling ♥
The truth is that knowing how to use it is more important than knowing theory without knowing what to do with it!
