This is a MEGA useful tutorial, and I totes want to try dyeing minky at some point, but unfortunately, I don't have a washer or dryer.. Do you have any tips or advice for getting all the extra dye out completely without a washer? I can use my bathtub to wash it, but that's all I got. :'D

You're very welcome! I would just say to wash it several times until the water from the wet fabric runs clear. I would not suggest using a bathtub because it could stain. You could buy a large bucket or just use the pot you used to dye the fabric. Just make sure it's washed well beforehand.

Okay, that's what I figured, it will just take a bit longer to hand wash! XD I know the bathtub could stain, it just doesn't matter really if it does, mine's like 60 years old and gross and falling apart anyways haha.;;; A bucket might be easier though, I suppose it depends! Thank you for the quick reply!

Heya hun, was wondering if you think it'd be possible to dye an already sewn piece? say a mane or tail? Unstuffed of course. Do you think the fabric would dye evenly?

i think it would. the seams might be a little iffy, though. but if you pick out the fibers from the seam, then dye it, it might help the dye seep into the seams. i don't see any reason why you wouldn't be able to dye it the same way and send it through the wash (provided there's no hand sewing)

I've seen so many difficulties due to the limited colors that minky is made in.
I have a feeling this will help a whole lot of people!
Nice job!

Thanks for the helpful tutorial ^^ I've worked with minky before but I ended up switching to microfleece instead. Your cat is so cute and photogenic too!

Awesome! I dye a lot of fabrics anyway, but I've never tried gradiating or colour changes, I'll have to go look for a project that incorporates it XD

I've actually never airbrushed minky, but I definitely want to try it someday. I'll try to remember to make a tutorial for when I do.
