a smaller, more "realistic" bun can be done but if you're looking for one that looks like mine it's probably impossible. i have no idea how to do it and my hair is way too short to be able to do that. and i don't have time to make tutorials anymore. sorry. if you search around on cosplay.com you might be able to find some tips.

just cut a circle. the back will be flat only because it won't be wide enough yet. you add more to the back in a later step

Sorry, one more question! So when you were wrapping the hair around the bun, how did you keep the hairs from getting caught on the foam? Did you just hairspray the shit out of them?
π: 0 β©: 1
makeshiftwings30 In reply to ChibiTrain [2012-05-14 06:28:05 +0000 UTC]
yeah, hairspray is mainly the key. just take your time wrapping it and try and keep the fibers as flat as possible. once you have it generally in place, you could use a pin on the inside of the bun to try and keep the clump of hair in place while you smooth the fibers out with your fingers. once you have them in place you spray them to death

Yes. Okay. Spray them to death. Roger. >] Thank you!

This is really well done, from the looks of it C: Very cool!
I have a question though, do you think this technique could be
translated over with real hair?

makeshiftwings30 In reply to LycheexBee [2012-04-18 02:19:56 +0000 UTC]
thanks! uhhh i doubt it you'd have to wrap hair in a circle like a real bun

How did you keep the hair from falling all over the place when you were attaching the extensions onto the foam? We were struggling with that last night. We pinned the rubber banded end into the inside of the wig foam, and then didnt have the hair spray yet so the hair was going everywhere ; ;
Also there are bumps in the hair from where they were folded in the packaging
Thanks for this tutorial though!
