Description
On Earth-244, the Cold War nearly became hot. Espionage and mad science ran amok on both sides. Finally, the United States government decided to give the people hope by bringing them heroes straight out of Saturday morning cartoons. A group of "volunteers" was selected and subjected to genetic experimentation. Their memories and personalities were wiped and overwritten with those extrapolated by computers from a popular group of comic books. So were born the Unstoppables! Their real names and lives unknown, what data is known comes from the files kept on them by their overseers. The Mechanist: Subject A was chosen to fulfill the Mechanist role due to his technical expertise. During the series of treatments, micro-processors were implanted in his brain, granting him the ability to link his mind with any machine and control them remotely. His implanted memories tell him he created a robot as a child to be his friend and companion, only to see it gunned down by a group of criminals. His exo-suit has been fitted with servo-motors that increase his strength and has implanted jets capable of limited-range flight.
Maiden of Mystery: Subject B was a nurse in a hospital when she was selected for the program. Implanted with the skills of Mata Hari as a spy, as well as a complete knowledge of martial arts and gymnastics. Her joints have been surgically and genetically altered to allow for maximum flexibility.
The Silver Shroud: Subject C was discovered as the leader of a street gang. Selected as a subject for his knowledge of the criminal world, his anti-social and criminal tendencies were erased from his mind and what parts of his knowledge remained were augmented by transferring a digitized database of police tactics, forensics, and law-enforcement techniques, as well as the entirety of the Encyclopedia Britannica. To complete his false identity, the organization has provided him with a government-owned mansion, complete with a staff and a converted military bunker beneath the foundations to serve as a base for his crime-fighting escapades.
Incanto: Subject D was an aspiring stage magician at the time of his discovery. To simulate Incanto's mystic abilities, his costume has been loaded with various gimmicks and devices that are linked to sensors surgically embedded under his skin and hooked into his nervous system, allowing him to activate them with vocal commands disguised as incantations and particular muscle movements.
Space Ranger: Subject E was a veteran marine, suffering from PTSD and living on the street. His service record spoke for itself and he was brought in. His implanted personality makes him believe his name is Ace and that he is a member of an intergalactic peacekeeping force marooned on Earth. His costume is loaded with various devices and tools, including magnetic generators in his gloves and boots, a built-in rocket pack and energy beam emitters in the visor in his helmet.
Jangles: By all appearances an ordinary Capuchin monkey, Subject F, AKA "Jangles the Moon Monkey", was seized during a raid on a animal trafficker's headquarters. Believing he would be useful for the project, his memories were altered, making him believe he has known Subject E his entire life. During the process, Subject F's intelligence was boosted to the level he can understand human language and operate computer systems.
Manta-Man: Subject G was classified an eco-terrorist and captured during a protest outside Congress. During the induction process, he was genetically altered, his DNA combined with that of marine animals, adapting his body's systems to thrive in the hostile environment of the deep ocean. Note: Process has had adverse effect of turning his skin blue and giving him sharp teeth and claws. The manta-wings of his suit are linked to his nervous system, allowing him to use them to swim at amazing speed. His thickened skin and denser musculature render him bullet-proof and superhumanly strong.
Grognack the Barbarian: When he was recruited, Subject H was a longshoreman on the docks in Seattle. Already an excellent fighter, having injured more than half than men sent to bring him in, the genetic augmentation used on him has increased his strength to superhuman levels. His mental reconditioning has given him a full knowledge of swordsmanship, equestrianism and hand-to-hand combat. As his implanted memories tell him he is a time-lost barbarian cast into the distant future by one of his enemies, any knowledge of modern life had to be erased from his mind. Obviously, this can hard to work around, as he still has much to relearn and technology seems to confuse and frustrate him.
