Simon closed the front door of his apartment behind him. It had been a rough day, helping Loki out moving and rewiring equipment in the studio. Even with this metal exoskeleton it was an exhausting job, and all he could think of at the moment was to crash down and take a big break...
"Tough day at work?" a familiar voice said. Simon looked around and saw Bradley the lion sitting in his favourite bean bag. He was more than just his 'boss' as the band's frontman; over the years they had become close friends as well. But what was he doing here at this moment?
"Brad, how did you get in?" Simon said to him.
"Did you forget that you gave me the extra key?"
"*Sigh!* of course I did... my mind's just all over the place..."
"Come on, relax! You've deserved it! Why don't you join me here? I have something good to tell you."
"Oh? What is it?"
"I'm not going to tell you before you... well... slip into something more comfortable, darling..."
"Oh, err... just a minute..."
"No problem, I have all evening..."
Simon put down his backpack and kneeled on the ground. He lifted his hand and started pulling out is neck. Or more precisely, what seemed to be his neck...
"Any problems in the studio today?" Bradley asked.
"The calibration didn't go as quick as we hoped," Simon replied, as he continued pulling out his 'neck'. "There was this hum in the sound system that we couldn't get rid off until the end of the day. Loki was pulling his mane out to get it fixed."
"I hope that was figuratively speaking..."
"It almost wasn't, hehe. So what have you been doing all day?"
"Oh, just the boring administrative work, doing all the finance stuff. I'm not sure if we can go on tour this year, the budget is a bit tight..."
"That would be a shame. Could we do a shorter tour?"
"We could, but we may let our fans down for not coming to their city."
"We'll see. Maybe we get enough revenue to do the tour as we planned."
In the meantime, Simon's exoskeleton sat kneeling on the floor, completely empty now, and next to it, Simon in his true appearance: an almost 3 meter long snake. He slithered towards Bradley in the bean bag and coiled around him. He knew Bradley loved that. Rarely did he feel comfortable in his natural snake form, but when it comes to intimate moments like this, his exoskeleton would only be in his way. The feel of gently pressing against your friend with your entire body is an unmatched feeling. Bradley was one of the few people who wouldn't be scared of him in this form, in fact, he seemed to enjoy it very much. He laid his head to rest on Bradley's shoulder.
"Feeling comfortable now, darling?" Bradley asked.
"Very," Simon said. "So, you wanted to tell me something?"
"Well, I've talked to Collin yesterday..."
"And?"
"He said 'yes'. He's looking forward for you to move in with us."
"Oh really? That's wonderful news! I hope I can get close with him as well."
"I'm sure of it. He has never experienced the way you can coil around people."
"And my stuff... do you have enough room in your house?"
"Oh, plenty! I have an empty room bigger than this studio apartment reserved for you to put it all in, so don't worry about that?"
"I can't wait! So when can I move in?"
"Collin and I both have a gap in our schedule in six weeks. That would be the best time to help you move. Should be enough time to give your land lord a notice."
"I'll save the date. I almost can't believe it... I'd never have thought that a snake like me could ever be loved so dearly."
"They don't know what they're missing."
Bradley kissed Simon on the cheek. He blushes.
"I love you, Brad," he said.
"Love you too, darling."
