Description
If you haven't read "The Inverted World" by Christopher Priest you should!"A uniquely powerful novel of a society in decay. On a planet whose very nature is a mystery a massive decrepit city is pulled along a massive railway track, laying the line down before it as it progresses into the wilderness."
I read it many years ago and it gave me lots of inspirationβ¦

It was many years ago I read it, but when I found this place it came back to me very strongly.
What inspired me most about the book was the fact that they lived on a very narrow band of stability.
In forward direction the world was all flat, and behind them everything got stretched out in height.
I used it visually in some of my oil paintings from that time (late eighties)
And I have the same feeling from many of the surfaces I have been visiting the last two years...
