Description
3DSMAX Maxscript To View and Save xnalara .mesh filesUpdate [August 21 2019]
Β o Apparently programmer going by id-daemon has been making conversion tools that output to their own version of Dusan's (Author of Xnalara) .mesh.ascii format. The scope of that format does not allow for version control so as daemon keeps creating .mesh.ascii variants and there may be compatibility issues.
o The download link now includes a updated version (v1.39) and the old version (v1.33) try the newer version and if you have issues please contact me.

i recently found a smd tool alongside crowbar that converts sfm models into the xnalara format i was just wondering if theres a tool for fbx as wellΒ

but to add xnalara may be on the way out and become obsolete i think theres development of even stronger programs to port 3d characters that are undergoing developement ; with AI on the rise and the things we can do NOW is the stuff of science fiction; right now theres programs that use AIΒ that can create 3d models just based off imagesΒ Β www.youtube.com/watch?v=FlgLxSβ¦
bascially it explains how AI is going to revolutionize the 3d industry and i can see that happening in about 5 yrsΒ

no i never found anything that converts fbx to ascii or xps format i dont think its possible right now atm theres also the issue of rigging and weight painting/ bone parenting/ render groups and uv maps when you do convert a fbx model over so even if a tool does get developed it would need to do all that which i dont think its technically possible to do all that in one go but who knows? i know extraction and porting has gotten far far easier than it was in 2006 when xnalara was in its infancy me being one of the first users lolΒ

yeah the processes are very daunting not all models operate the same either also depends on the game engines used there are so many variables when it comes to conversions in models for 3d software programs

Thank you very much, sir.Β I used the older version of this tool on an almost daily basis with 3DS Max and my Source engine scenery ports and other XPS efforts over the past few years.Β Looking forward to the new version.Β Thanks again!

Does this let you turn an OBJ file to XPS?

Do you by chance know if there is a way to port .m3 files to XPS or PMX/PMD? "m3" files are the models used in the StarCraft II game, which I am trying to find someone to help me convert models from.

Hey there ^^
Thanks so much for making this tool
I was able to import a model of Marie Rose into 3DS Max with no trouble, and was able to relink all the necessary textures.
However, I'm running into trouble when I try to render the model -- there are some strange areas of transparency, and weird artifacting on the textures. Do you have any suggestions?
Thanks for your help ^^

No, but Iβm pretty sure that xnalara itself has an export option to save to obj built into it

Thanks for the script!!! It works perfectly! Just one question: is there any way to make the mesh display quads and not triangles?Β
